Still reading "State of Fear" I remember reading it once before, and the last part was so great, I want to draw it out as long as possible

I ask because I started reading "Caught Stealing," and right from the start the violence was non-stop, like in the other book. The other book was very graphic and grisly. So, I deleted it after 25 or 30 pages. Sometimes that much violence is too much for me.
I haven't read any other Huston books but that is the same character. "Caught Stealing" starts out with him in his early 20's working as a bartender in NYC. Two guys come in and order drinks then beat him up so bad he losses a kidney as a result. Rest of the book is equally violent. Oh and he dos mention his parents back in California.

I don't plan to read any more of his.

You should be using your library. Reading library books on your Kindle is way less expensive!

It is a dollar cheaper from Amazon for the Kindle. OTOH, it is also available at the Fairfax Public Library from their eBook collection so I'll probably do that.

The first two books are fun, but it's in the third and fourth books that I think Butcher really hits his stride with character development and worldbuilding.

You can also purchase books 1, 2, 3, 4, and 10 as audiobooks, read by James Marsters (the actor who portrayed Spike on Buffy/Angel). He does a fairly good job, although there are some words that he does not pronounce correctly, which is irritating.

Ooh now I'm REALLY excited about the rest of the series.

I can't listen to audiobooks though. They make me sleepy and go too slow.

I usually speed up the playback to 150% of normal speed. The playback devices that can do that are more expensive and harder to find than run-of-the-mill mp3 players, but it's been worth it to me.

I don't think I know how to do that, LOL. I don't know, audio books just kill that escapism thing for me.

Whooppeee! I just signed a contract with Duckworth publishers in London. I have to remove my independently-published edition from Kindle and Amazon. The new book (I don't know if they will keep the title) will be out in the summer.
