Yes I did. I also tried both books I have read and not read before. Nothing works. I'm going to try adding new books as well, though I doubt that will do anything. Finally I'll try to update to the latest firmware to see if anything change.

Thanks. This seems a bit more serious then. I have no idea now how could it disappear.

I've seen the progress info disappear from the sleep screen on my Glo before, I don't know what caused it to happen, but if I remember right it was just a matter of rebooting the device and it came back.

Unfortunately I tried both power off the device and hitting the reset button, still nothing

Have you checked the Sleep and Power settings? There is an option to "Show info panel on full screen covers", I can't remember if that is the default or not.

Good thing you mentioned that, because I was secretly thinking that there is something like that. However, there is no such option on that setting page for me anymore! Can this option be forcefully set by editing some files directly?

Also, I've seen that the battery status when sleeping and plugged-in still works. Only reading % disappeared.

Have you checked the sleep settings? From your description, something might have messed this up and they are back to the defaults.

And please everyone, don't hit the reset button unless the device has actually hung. It does a warm restart of the device, and that isn't much better than pulling the power cord out of a PC and then plugging it back in. Powering off properly will save everything properly. In this circumstance, it would not have fixed anything and could only have made things worse (corrupt database, dirty file system, corrupt configuration files).

Attached is a screenshot of the Sleep and Power settings page on my Glo. These are the corresponding settings in the config file:
Code:
[PowerOptions]
AutoOffMinutes=0
AutoSleepMinutes=15
FullscreenCoverInfoPanel=true
FullscreenCoverStretch=true
ShowBookCover=true
SleepAccessoryEnabled=false

Edit: To slow but the warning still applies.

But, with the new symptoms, check what is in the affiliates.conf file.

Thanks! Yeah, the whole screensaver section is gone for me. I tried put these options in "Kobo eReader.conf" by hand by still no luck. Do you have any other idea?

I think you're probably right. I think when I tried multiple times to make the hack works I tried hitting the reset at one point, and that could be the reason of the current situation.

My affiliates.conf looks like this:
Code:
[General]
affiliate=KoboIndigo
Anything seems wrong with it?

Hi & thanks for your feedback.

Didn't notice this before but I can reproduce this issue (picture shows the borked sleepscreen - that about it?).

When you delete/rename your Kobo eReader.conf and let Kobo re-create it from scratch, it's back to normal (you have to select language and configure everything else again, it won't delete your files). However this doesn't stick, after a reboot or two it's back to bananas.

If this is caused by the fatpatch mod, which seems likely at this point (?) my only theory is that those magic bytes Kobo is writing to the boot sector, is not just a firmware reset counter, but also some kind of hidden feature settings bitflag place.

Or it just triggers some hidden firmware bugs.

In Linux, could you show the output of `file -sL /dev/yourkobo` and `hexdump -C -s 90 -n 420 /dev/yourkobo` after you tried to apply this mod? Not sure why it's getting stuck for you...

edit: -s -n was the other way around, my bad

My sleep screen doesn't look like that. Everything looks ok except the current progress is gone, and the screensaver section in settings->sleep and power is also gone.

Actually I decided to factory reset my device and now dealing with another problem (can't seem to format to the way both Windows 10 AU & kobo like). I do have the backup, so if I can restore it to the previous state I'll report back.

I don't foillow. I got pretty much the same response as the others got after applying the patch by copying patch tgz file extracted from patch zipfile to /mnt/kobo/.kobo/KoboRoot.tgz - update is applied, then restart, then white clown, black clown, white clown, black clown, main menu, white clown, black clown - and it stays on black clown, no second restart.
