It's... it's beautiful...! So happy for Kobo on this, reasonably priced, and that tech is amazing! More than makes up for the disappointment of the Oasis... I didnt even know those specs were possible! And its waterproof! And enormous! And 350AUD! Seems it takes a lot of effort however to make a sturdy device with a nice screen and no tech faults but I really think Kobo can pull this off... so for now... Take all my money!!! Is anybody else really, really happy? We ereaders face a lot of disappointment in this sector for some reason so this looks like its gonna be a real treat...! Any ideas on a release date? So incredibly happy! It took the best things about the H2o and made them better. Kudos Kobo! Day 1 purchase! *throws roses* So currently the only place I can buy this is on that dutch website? Not too keen buying from there just yet, I assumme the listing is a "mistake", right? Lawd I would be disappointed right about now if I got that Oasis...! Very impressive screen specs, especially considering some other companies haven't even caught up with the 6.8in screens yet. The flush bezel and lack of SD slot are a bit disappointing to me though. This seems like a larger version of the original Aura, I hoped it would be more like a larger version of the H2O. It probably means 11 built-in fonts with 50 font size options, same as other Kobos. |

Impressive specs, 8GB(7GB net) memory is enough for most people. In the FCC the battery is 1200 mAh and Kobo commit to 1 month of batterylife, do they increase the battery capacity? Last edited by oren64; 08-10-2016 at 02:18 AM. |

I have never used an e-reader with a flush screen, so is it a good or a bad thing?

The original Dutch article said 50 fonts and font sizes (my emphasis) and 11 different fonts. Sounds pretty similar to now, I agree. Perhaps it is stated that way to compete against Amazon's advertising?

One result is a less sharp screen, which was apparent when comparing the original Aura (which had a flush screen with capacitive touch) to the older Glo (which had a recessed screen with infra-red touch.) Another issue it the colour variation problems (pink and green hues) that occur on Kindle devices which are possibly related to uneven thickness of the capacitive layer.

Personally I love it; you don't get any dust in the join (no join!) and it is easy to keep clean. It feels responsive and it basically works very well.

Looking at shown picture makes me wonder - why make such a "big" reader and then set header, footer and margins so big that I'm afraid I have more actual book text on usual 6" reader

Also just learned that it reduces blue light and adjusts brightness according to time... I think im falling in love... the Voyage did it perfectly with no issues in my opinion... also im beginning to understand all the Kindlers - people will nitpick at bloody anything!
