Having just being burned after purchasing the kindle oasis and HATING it I think I'll wait a few weeks to see what kobo has to offer before considering a voyage. Never owned a kobo before but if the 7.8" thing is real and it's lightweight enough it will be a day one purchase for me. |

Umm... no. (1) Amazon's Kindle ecosystem is far more than just their E-Ink kindles (2) If it was very popular, I'm sure Amazon would come out with one too. But it might keep Kobo in the game a bit longer. However, my guess is that it'll still have a glass backplane. |

I wouldn't want it to be a Kindle Killer, competition, especially good competition, is better for the consumer. If this was the device that killed of the Nook, rather than allowing it to linger on a deathbed, that would probably be ok since BN hasn't exactly pushed anything forward with their devices for the past several years. But I doubt that'll happen as Kobo hasn't pushed hard into the US market.

I don't know quite why, but aesthetically, the toy-like blue power button really worries me. It also looks thick on the left-hand side. Hopefully tapered towards the other side to make holding more comfortable. And maybe this teaser image is of the smaller device and not the 7.8" model? Its getting rather hard to innovate in the area of eReaders, IMHO. Lets hope Kobo has a surprise up its sleeve. |

Hey it might also ship with the i.mx 7 which is much more power efficient than the ancient cortex A9 based i.mx 6. | |

In the photo of tweeter, the reader is upside-down with its screen on pebbles... 3 things came up on my mind: 1. Will be waterproof? 2. Will have a capacitive gorilla glass screen? 3. Will be shock-resistant? All the 3 mention above? The power button worries me too much. How can this work with a hard case? |

I'm not sure using a mobius screen would help with weight reduction much. The glass backplate is literally paper thin so I'd be willing to bet it doesn't contribute much to the weight of the device. If it was a glass screen on a tablet or something that's much thicker then it would have a weight impact.

Well, if it’s gonna look like a tactical flashlight, texture and all, I think I’m going to replace my dearly departed Aura HD with an H20 |
