You are stuck because the instructions in this thread are obsolete. Read the green text at the top of the first post, then go to the official jailbreak thread.

The official jailbreaks for all eink kindles are linked in the Jailbreak Index sticky thread (at the top of the Kindle Developer's Corner forum).

hmm well it worked, just jailbroke it, but I did find a typo.

Sorry I totally missed the green text.

Glad you were able to figure that out and it all worked out for you in the end.

You must have "totally missed" the warning at the top of the pastebin as well (it says to use the ORIGINAL author's jailbreak thread because others are potentially dangerous). The official jailbreaks are listed in the jailbreak index sticky thread at the top of the Kindle Developer Corner's forum.

That ";fs-cache" error is one of many errors originally in this thread, but this one did not yet get corrected. Because the thread owner has not been active here to support "his" jailbreak (his last post) then maybe a forum moderator can fix that problem?

EDIT: I reported the first post with a request to change ;fs-cache to ;fc-cache. That correction will at least give this thread a chance to work on one specific kindle model. EDIT2: It has been fixed now.

Anyway looks like everything went well for me. This website is now bookmarked.

Went from a PW2 (905A) running 5.8.1 to 5.4x to 5.6.5 to jb, to jb hotfix, and dling 5.8.1 now.



Now back to Dostoevsky.

i have a next situation...

I make downgrade my kindle touch 7gen to v5.4.2, but i choise wrong file for downgrade.
And... i have a brick. On screen of my device have picture - boy under tree. I'm stupid, i know =(
Please help me unbrick my device.

This one is not maintained and has many errors.

Now you get to learn how to de-brick your device over the serial port.

You seem to have missed Step #1:

"choise wrong file for downgrade" -- that can happen when using directions that aren't being maintained. Sorry to hear that.

You should still be able to flash the correct firmware version and thereby fix your Kindle by following the serial jailbreak instructions, and while you have access to the diags partition, overwriting the main partition with the correct rootfs.img

rootfs.img can be extracted from the update file, using KindleTool.
