The saved copy (which does load) is too old and does not have the .bin links.

Did you get permission from Amazon for your copy of the page?

Just get a better browser.

I sent a notice to freetexthost:

"We maintain and change theses links at their original site for safety purposes. Unauthorized copies like this are unmaintainable and potentially dangerous. Please remove this page."

I use Google chrome, and when I have page loading problems as you described, I clear the browser cache to fix it. It tends to self-corrupt when it gets too big.

And yes, we have retired some links from the pastebin, and there will surely be "single point" maintenance required in the future. And yes, I did personally request and receive verbal permission to post that page from amazon tech support staff (unlike unauthorized copies).

Do I need the "available on request" .bin file? I tried with the 5.6.5 firmware version but I got the error message. Will try again with the 5.7.4 as soon as it completes the download.

What directions are you following?

There is no factory-5.6.5 version listed.

Only factory-5.7.4 -

So re-read the directions in the first post of **THIS** thread again, carefully this time.

5.7.4 is the supported PW3.

Additionally, the *.json file itself is at

So you can inspect it and see all available commands and even create your own.

Found the .json file in both my PW1 and PW3.

The number of commands seems to have doubled from the PW1 to PW3!
Also, there are no scripts in /usr/local/bin of PW1. It only contains usbnetwork.sh.

Maybe both of the above are because my PW1 doesn't have the factory image?

Some of the scripts are in /usr/bin (in both PW1 and PW3).

factory image only has the full set.
consumer image has stripped out set.

Note:
'Reset (to factory defaults)'
of
DO_FACTORY_RESTORE

does the conversion:
factory_image -> consumer_image (the stripping).

That is the usbnetwork.sh installed by the USBnetworking add-in package you are looking at, not the factory one.

(Without trashing our custom usbnetworking script)

3G version Kindle Voyage, SN starts with B052 09, successfully pass the step 5 (Branch Delay's factory firmware jail break).

Then I put the hotfix bin file to root path, but the "Update Your Kindle" option is grayed out.

Any solution?

Hi all from Portugal !
At last I took the plunge to get a ereader, ordered a Kindle PaperWhite black from Amazon spain (nearest) had to order without special offers (looks like Portugal isn't supported) and ordered as a gift so it isn't connected to my account. Now a noob question should I make a backup of the ROM that cames with it if it's a version that you don't have? Can I later ask for the right files to download later?
