No, they didn't. But if you went to Amazon's website you really couldn't miss it.

No they didn't, but it would have been nice if they had. I wish they would have sent emails explaining some of the special offers. The offers were anything but obvious just looking at their website, although it was obvious that Prime Deal Day was coming.

exactly. For whatever reason, my order didn't get the promo, so they had to add it manually. fixed quickly, as always at Amazon.

If you use the Amazon app (on Android at least), it also gave a notification telling you Prime Day started. I believe it did one telling me it was coming as well.

Not that finding deals in the app was any easier than the website.

Bad deal compared to the lump-sum cost of buying a year of Prime upfront, but could be a good deal for those who only want the service for Prime Day or otherwise like the pay-as-you-go, choose the month(s) you'll have Prime/not have Prime flexibility.

I just rechecked my Inbox and Trash box, but I didn't find any pre-sale or day of sale emails from Amazon. Perhaps my email server filtered them out, but I doubt it as I tend to get a lot of Amazon emails, especially ad emails. I guess they just selectively or randomly sent emails to some customers. As much as I buy from them every year I would expect more correspondence for Prime Day.

I usually check out Amazon.com daily or at least several times each week, so I knew Prime Day was coming. They were pretty obvious about that on their website. But emails detailing what offers I qualified for, or might qualify for, never came. It would be in Amazon's best interest to send those out to everyone because it would likely generate more interest and sales. I expect that by the annual Prime Day number 23 they will do a better job!

I didn't get the notes last year but I got them this year. I had to go into the Amazon site and find my e-mail preferences. I can't remember exactly where I did that on the site or which one I needed to enable to get these promos but it worked for me. Might be worth a try.

I just checked and my email settings are as follows:

Marketing Information by Post: You are currently subscribed to receive newsletters for deals and personalized product recommendations.

Seems like this should have worked for Prime Deal Day. It seems to work for constant deal notification throughout the year.

I just went to my settings and I have the same thing, but I noticed that is for mail settings, not email. I didn't receive emails about Prime day either, and don't receive any promotional emails. The email preferences are below the mail preferences, and there is one for Amazon Prime.

Edit: I didn't understand what they meant by "Post", but I guess that means snail mail.

Good question. It is confusing, to say the least. To get to that settings page you have to click the E-mail Preferences & Notifications link on the Accounts page. So I assumed it referred to emails. It was already set to "receive newsletters for deals and personalized product recommendations" but if it is snail mail I NEVER get any snail mail from Amazon. Confusing. Maybe Amazon is taking lessons from Facebook on how to make settings as confusing as possible.
