I just did a price match against Apple, and Kobo gave me the extra 10% as 10% of the higher price instead of 10% of the lower price, so they are still not being consistent with how they do this.

Do you consistently buy on all of your Kobo accounts? I haven't kept rigorous records, but I do seem to get the codes (mostly duplicates, but every now and then a new one) on the accounts I haven't used much in a while, which would be consistent with the "come back" or "we've missed you" messages...

I got a 90% code on an account that I used to buy heavily with. The code came about six months after the last purchase and about two months after a 50% code that I didn't use.

This might be deliberate. It there was an obvious algorithm (e.g. no purchase for 6 months = 90% off voucher) then people would game the system.

It appears to me to be more a line or two of code that is in a branch that they cannot find. These codes tend to go to the same people and they are often repeat codes. (I've never received one either. I'm probably a more recent customer in the scheme of things--last 3 years...maybe four?) It's obviously on autopilot and the routine gets called, but not necessarily updated or stopped.

But you are correct in that it is random. It's so random, I think the universe is jealous by just how random it is.

I have never gotten a "We miss you" code. I keep finding more titles I can use coupons on but the 50% sale ended and not more concerts. Kobo just keeps getting worse. . .
