Just downgraded/hacked/upgraded back my B013 Voyage without any problems. Thanks to knc1 and other wonderful people who made it possible!
It is mentioned in step 2 that you'll loose all your collections (and implied that you'll need to manually re-organize all your books later). I found out that if you synchronize your collections to Amazon Cloud prior to Factory reset, you only need to re-sync them back and then add all of them to "Downloaded" category (so they are be marked with black star) after you'll move your /documents folder back to JBroken device. It worked for Voyage and will probably work for all devices with recent firmware such as simple Kindle and all PWs Last edited by bugmen00t; 07-15-2016 at 12:39 PM. Reason: typos |

That part of the directions is still "safest way" - since I didn't know for sure if what you describe would work with the newer firmwares. |

I don't have the new "Distribute" button working on my PC yet, but would be afraid to push it now - What with the rate new models are turning up. ![]() |

My new Kindle basic(white) is G000 KA instead of the G000 K9 in the wiki. Not sure if I am going to do the JB on it though.

@batpuppy: Yup, the white one is not handled yet, I'll fix that ASAP
![]() @jetuser: That's the basic WiFi one, it should *definitely* be on the WiKi. (It just wasn't seen with the 90-- prefix, yet, so thank you for that ![]() In any case, you don't have anything to fear, everything should be okay and supported ![]() |

basically what I tried to do was to jailbreak Kindle paperwhite 3 black Wifi, the one without ads. This is what I did: 1. Kindle Paperwhite 3 black arrived yesterday running 5.7.4, I connected it to the wifi and got it registered I followed all the steps and when I put the kindle-jb-factory.tar.gz and typed ;installHtml nothing happened. Screen just flashes back to the home page. 2. I decided to download and install 5.7.4 from pastebin. It was installed absolutely fine, it took less than 10 minutes. I put the kindle-jb-factory.tar.gz and tried again and it failed like before. 3. I used both Linux and widows both failed 4. I reset and tried, it failed 5. I was advised to try and install hotfix anyway just to see. But hotfix update failed with error 7 6 I reset it and kept it unregistered with airplane mode on again, it failed 7. I used 4 different browsers to download kindle-jb-factory both in Linux widows again it failed. 8 I used the snapshot (v 1.2) kindle-jb-factory again it failed 9. I tried with different cables, different USB ports with/without the magnetic cover it also failed So am pretty much run out options but I will keep an eye on this topic if you would like me to try/test anything different please let me know. Many thanks P.S apologies for any mistakes/typos I might have made. Last edited by Kindol; 07-15-2016 at 05:54 PM. Reason: apologise in advance for possible errors |

@Kindol:
1. Had no chance to work, it requires a factory FW, not a production one ![]() 2. That's not the right file, you need to look inside that first tarball for the main-htmlviewer.tar.gz one. (Alternatively, it's been updated and uploaded as-is in @BD's release thread). That should basically resolve all your troubles ![]() Note that if by "reset", you mean "factory reset", you will *have* to reinstall the factory fw, because that reset will switch a factory FW to a production one.
