Your guess is right...Most of my docs are PDFs.

The plugin has finished counting pages after 3 days without errors. The error was caused by the lack of space in the temp folder. Since the last time I have moved the temp folder to another bigger partition.

I tried this plugin and works fine. I used it with more than 100 books, but only for 1 had a little mistake:

Count Page/Word Statistics
-------------------------------
Logfile for book ID 7745 (Mitologia Japonesa - La Creacion de Japon)
Found 30 pages
7745
Word count: 0
ERROR: No words found in this book (conversion error?), word count will not be stored

Words and Gunning Fog data is not displayed

Any idea?

The simplest answer is that the word count is correct. This could happen if the book is made up of images with no actual text. Other than that, I would need to see the book to check. If the book is somewhere I can legally download it, post a link, or if you can put it somewhere I can download it from, PM me the link.

Although I'm using #pages, the returns that I have been getting are word counts. This has only just changed. Have I missed something?

Yep

You assigned the wrong 'what to count' type (there are 3) to your #pages column

Trade Secret?
Look at WHAT you configured. You got one pointed to the wrong place (to get what appears to be # of words: did you use custom?)
NB You CAN configure things in 3 sections.

You only need to configure the destinations for the ones you want (#Pages).
You need to pick the counting rule

Configure only the part of the plugin that you actually need. For page numbers, I have it set like this:

I have Calibre installed identically on two laptops; the Windows Vista version returned pages but the 64-bit Win 11 version was returning words.

Not certain I fully understand what you said theducks. As far as I could see, nowhere was I requesting the number of words - everything was set for pages.

I've dropped the Custom Column setting and everything now works. Not sure why, but then I don't understand a lot of things ;-)

You can use Count Pages without a custom column, but because it doesn't display anything then, I don't really see the point

(Except if you use the page count in the title or something, when sending to device.)

My settings above, using a custom column, work perfectly with the latest version of Calibre and the plugin.

The PI does not PREVENT you from putting the same column in both Pages and Words

If you do that, One of those will be the last man standing

for you, it wust have been Words counted

Hi:
I have a problem with a 4.3MB book. I start the plugin with only this book and spend almost 20 minutes with 1%. Other books 3.7MB average delay 4 minutes. Any suggestions?

The long time probably means there is something unusual in the book. Beyond that, without seeing the book, I couldn't guess.
