All you can say is that a certain build (or builds) of Windows 10 works with 3.19.5761.

Any one found a work around to the very slow behavior when you want to highlight something?

With your assurance and a toonie, I can get a coffee at Tim Hortons.

From what he wrote, Peter is running a Fast Ring insider preview and not the RTM flavour of Windows 10.

I have seen on and off issues with the Insider Preview builds using Calibre to connect to my Kobo. For me, the 14376 release does not seem to be able to mount the internal storage of my H2O. It shows me a blank USB drive and wants me to insert a disk. Disk Management shows a 3.17BG unallocated disk. On the bright side, it does mount the external uSD card as an accessible device. This is running in a virtual machine using VMWare Workstation Pro so I may be looking at USB incompatibilities between VMWare and the Insider Preview.

I was using the first released version of Windows 10 and now I am running the updated version of Windows 10. Both work no problem with my H2O.

I cannot speak for any other version Windows 10 as I don't run pre-release versions.

Oh... I thought you were talking about an anniversary update for the Kobo firmware.

Still hoping they eventually fix the wonky two-finger brightness adjustment in the Aura.

That is exactly what's happening with me. Good to know its just a reproducible issue with windows. I can scrounge up an SD card I think and use that for now. Thanks for the confirmation!

The problem is that unless you can mount the internal storage, Calibre is not able to access the database. I'm downloading 14379 at the moment so hoping it might fix the issue.

Hmmm... Jon, I would suggest the next time you see a post from someone who is running pre-release software that you realize that responding the release version works for you is not helpful.

You may not want to live on the bleeding edge but those who are willing to do so are the ones who will help to make the release version usable.

But running a pre-release OS under a VM is not a good idea. 99.9% of the people using Windows 10 will be doing so without a VM. So because you don't know if the VM is the problem or not, don't say there is a problem with Windows 10 pre-release. Run it without a VM and if it till doesn't work, then say it's not working.

Umm... I have a couple of physical machines at work with various Insider Preview Builds. The same issue has occurred with them. I have not seen a similar issue with with Windows 7 and 8.1 nor with Linux (Fedora, CentOS and Mint) on a VM on my laptop. The issue with with Windows 10 Insider Builds has come and gone with various builds. I should mention that I've seen that issue with HyperV VMs as well as VMWare Workstation.

So I am fairly certain that it is a Windows 10 Insider Preview Build issue but there is a niggling doubt that it might be a VM issue.

As for not running the Windows 10 Insider Preview Builds using VMs? About 40% of the people I know who are running Insider Preview Builds run them using VM technology. It is just so much easier to revert from a failed install -- an example was where Build 14431 bluescreened my VM during install. I reverted to the previous snapshot and moved to the Slow Ring until the next build was released. That beats the heck out of re-installing the OS and applications.

Yes i have issues with Developer preview (fast track) releases for last 6 versions or so where internal device drive for Kobo Aura HD cannot be accessed. The internal sd card has no read/write access and is not recognized by kobo or calibre. It is working fine on Production system so i hope issue does not go live with anniversary update in July / August update.

I imagine kobo will address issue when what ever version of developer preview goes gold and ends up being release candidate.

Just to continue with the Preview issues, Windows 10 x64 build 14383 has the same issue. Since Microsoft removed the preview build number from the bottom corner of the screen which suggests this build is getting close to the release version, I'm getting nervous about the issue persisting into the release version.
