I understand that. Unfortunately, it's clear that my Voyage isn't allowing page flip, as I only see one icon. What's really odd is that my Oasis and my PW3 are allowing it. My Voyage is at 5.8.1, my PW3 is at 5.7.4.1, my Oasis is at 5.7.4. I've restarted them all multiple times, and synced them multiple times as well.

Just weird.

I agree, Shari, it is weird. I have page flip on my Voyage which is on 5.8.1, but don't have it on my Oasis which is on 5.8.1.0.1, despite numerous WiFi activations and restarts.

Kindle for Android version 7.0 now adds page flip. I purchased a comic and sent it to the updated Android app. I checked the storage on the device and found that it was delivered in KFX format. Despite that, it doesn't support page flip although regular books on the device in KFX do support it.

I think that page flip would be especially useful in graphic heavy books like comics. Too bad it isn't available.

Install the Comics app from Comixology (subsidiary of Amazon). Most comics (including the one you cite) can be read with either the Kindle app or Comics app. The latter has smoother panel navigation (Guided View) and organizes comics series for you, and it has something very much like Page Flip in terms of being able to navigate thumbnails.

One thing I wish they would straighten out with the ecosystem is that when you buy from Amazon, it (usually, but with some exceptions) shows up in Comics app as well, but when you buy from Comixology, it doesn't show up in Kindle library. Also when you purchase from Comixology, many titles can be downloaded as DRM free PDF files. But you have to choose which feature you want: ability to read with Kindle or Comics app (if you buy from Amazon), or the PDF download (if you buy from Comixology).

Do all books have the "new" page-flip UI (the 3x3 grid of thumbnails), or the older one that's been on other devices for a while? The old one works for any book; the new one only for KFX.

Its the New Flip! ALL e-books have the DRM removed & are Side-loaded from my PC in MOBI format. Yes even the Old e-books when I got my 1st K3 [2010]

Yes, that's the "old" page flip that came in a while ago with the 5.6.x (I think) firmware. The "new" one lets you toggle between that view, and one showing a 3x3 grid of thumbnail images of the pages of the book, but (unless it's different on the Fire) it's only available for books in KFX format.

So that makes it another useless feature for me, as KFX's DRM isn't yet cracked. I'll just stick to EPUB 2 (and AZW3->EPUB2) for my base format.

It's not a terribly useful feature in any case, any more than the similar feature in PDF readers is. Just about all it's useful for is finding floating figures or tables: for anything else, the text is very nearly too small to read, even with a magnifying glass, and the only features visible are the flow of paragraphs and figures/tables, and chapter ends -- and we already *have* an easy way of getting to the end of the chapter, with the old Page Flip.

Really, if this had arrived on a DX-sized machine which was widely used for reading textbooks, it would be generally useful. But the Kindle is much smaller than that and its textbook market is not huge, so this feature is not particularly exciting.

Yes, the tiny size of the text is the reason that I never use page flip.

I also never need it, because as soon as I need to refer back and forth in one or more books, I prefer paper. I only use an e-reader for reading novels, from beginning to end. If a novel has a map (such as fantasy novels) that I don't yet know very well, I'll find it on Google and print it in case I need or want to refer to it. For something such as Lord of the Rings, Shannara, the Eddings novels and others I've reread a few times, I can draw you most of the maps from memory, so I don't bother to print them.
