Lack of advanced formatting support isn't a huge issue here. I am more concerned with being able to read the text than with how well the formatting is implemented. FBReader got ported to Java as the basis for the Android, Blackberry, and other versions. That's where development is currently focused, and formatting support is better there. Blue Fire does have a version for Windows now. The advantage is support for Adobe DRM, but I don't get DRMed titles and don't care. Blue Fire appears to be aimed at vendors who want a customized device with their branding they can install on devices. I looked at the Android version, but my needs are adequately served by what I currently have. Quote:

Bookviser looks like another entry in the same space as BlueFire, offering a branded reader to channel partners. If I used a Windows phone, I'd probably look at it. ______ Dennis |

Thank you badgoodDeb. Mosaics are my passion besides books and gardening. My husband said Lizzzie looks like a kaleidoscope all over her. I told him this is how my brain feels inside. LOL It is kind of fun though. I have it all over the house.

I am so sorry. I do understand your feelings. Just got home from the chemo lounge with hubby 3 1/2 years into pancreas cancer now gone to his lung. It is also very aggressive and he is still hanging in there. Hoping your friend has many more fruitful years ahead.

Yes the tumor was too large at diagnosis for surgery and he had 6 months of chemo to shrink the tumor away from the Portal and Aorta. The surgery was a success it was 9 1/2 hours long, he was 73 then, and a years time to get better from it and now his plumbing is all weird but he is alive. It gave him 2 years NED then it came back in his lungs three tumors of the same as what was in his pancreas. It has been a rolycoaster for the last 3 1/2 years for both of us. In the beginning of diagnosis they gave him 3 to 6 months at best. His body is holding up well with the chemo but he is exhausted and only sits in his recliner watching TV. I feel for him because it drives him nuts to not be up and doing stuff. He hates I have to do it all. But if he were not here I would also have to do the bills too. He still manages them. It is a huge help for me. I do know all about managing them. I did it while he was so sick after surgery.

No not at all. Totally not his thing. He would rather be working on a truck in the shop. We did change a rear end together because he knew how to do it but could not lift or strain so I did all of that for him. Then we need to change the wheels from split rims to regular. That is not done yet but we have all of it ready. I am NOT changing split rims. We do not have a cage.I am clueless. So the poor old truck sits. He would like to ride his snowmobile in winter and take our Ranger out in summer. Guy things. He does not even have the energy to go visit his friends.
He has no artistic abilities. He used to help me with things I did not know how to do. Taught me to solder and how use all the power tools. Bought me a few smaller versions I can use. A small skill saw and lighter drill, electric chain saw. He has worked hard to make it so I can make it here alone. Taught me how to plow the snow and put the plow on and off the Ranger by myself. WE are lucky we have had this time to take care of these things. He just has no energy. The chemo just wipes him out. ![]() |

At times like this, It helps me to remember that we are all mortal, and we are all on borrowed time in a rented space. Life is a gift that is made better by those we love and who love us back. Also to Cinajoy & your MR friend too. Huggs for you both too ! My heart goes out to you all ! Last edited by Wearever; 07-06-2016 at 09:24 PM. |

A good friend of my SO and I had previously had a bout with lymphoma. She successfully got through that and was in remission. While in the hospital for an unrelated issue, tests revealed pancreatic cancer. The mutual friend who reported it to me said "It's the first time I've heard the terms "pancreatic cancer" and "successful treatment" used in the same sentence." Success is relative. It was detected early and treated aggressively, which meant she lived about a year longer than she otherwise would have. She finally had to go into hospice, and passed leaving a husband and two teenage kids. My SO and I knew the family from when the kids were toddlers. We, and everyone else who knew her, were devastated. (She was a pediatrician with an extensive practice in her area, so she had devastated patients as well, some too young to understand why they wouldn't see Dr. Sue again. ![]() Your hubby has best wishes and prayers from here. I can hope that somebody will beat the odds. ______ Dennis |
