Actually she was the second actress to play Lois on The Adventures of Superman, having joined the cast in the second season (Phyllis Coates was Lois for the first season). But she was the first person to portray Lois on the big screen, having played Lois Lane in the 15 minute serials starring Kirk Alyn as the Man of Steel which predated the TV series.

But yes, a candle indeed for this wonderful and kind actress who was part of our lives.

I stand corrected. I have seen the two serials. Superman (Superman vs. the Spider lady) in 1948 and Atom man vs. Superman (1950). They showed the complete serials on AMC some yrs back. Now days they probably seem quaint but at the time they were probably quite a big draw for kids when they went to the movies on Saturday afternoon. She was also in Superman (1978) as the mother of Lois Lane. In one scene a young Clark Kent runs faster than the train that young Lois and her parents are riding on. Kirk Alyn who played Superman in the serials was also in the movie according to IMDB. Phyllis Coates is still with us apparently. Probably one of the few from the series who is. She's 89.

That's true. Alyn and Neill were both on the train young Clark was racing as I recall. I believe they were supposed to be the parents or grandparents of young Lois. John Hamilton died the same year the series ended. For my money there was never a better Perry White. He defined the character.

Yep, and George Reeves was Superman. Though Christopher Reeve was good in the role in the movies. He was very versatile. In between Superman 1 and Superman 2 he made "Somewhere in Time." I have the first season of the Adventures of Superman on DVD somewhere. It was on all the time when I was a young kid. Now days most of the good stuff is off the TV and (for the most part) only junk is left behind.
