Hello.
I convert all my ebooks in epub, and what I would like is a button where I can delete the original file and save on disk space. ![]() I buy all my books in epub format: from all romance, coffee shop romance, smashwords, blushing, and the other file format from amazon (I don't really care about that coz I've got Kindle desktop), but mostly I got them in other formats from my forums, and they are like a damn anvil in my drive. ![]() Thank You |

You can delete all but a specified format from selected books, in the submenu for deleting books.

@daisygabina - that's odd
Are you sure you used the Remove books->Remove all formats form selected books, except option, would have looked something like this I always use the other option, and select the formats I do want to delete. Is your library on Dropbox or something similar ? Or are you running Time Machine or some other continuous synch/backup software such as RealTime Synch BR Last edited by BetterRed; 07-01-2016 at 05:55 AM. |

"keep reappearing" implies that they initially get deleted the way you want.
As for their mysterious reappearance, something other than calibre is doing that. calibre doesn't restore items from the Trash ever, much less for no good reason. |

Cloud Sync?
But that might cause DB corruption. When you use the menu shown, that removes the entry for that Format from the DB AND Removes the file If the book format shows up in the Metadata Formats: Something is restoring the entire Library (DB and Book) |

Daisygabina,
when you say the orignal file, do you mean in the Calibre folder, or in some other place where it existed before you added it to Calibre? I don't think Calibre can delete or alter files outside its own directory structure. |

Calibre ate my books?????????
Well, I didn't have time to try your recom, now I have a bigger problem: where I transferred more than 2000 bks in calibre (which I erased from the original folder], closed it normally @ 15.30 yesterday.
This morning, all my blasted books are gone from the interface and the calibre library in my drive, some of them I've downloaded and collected since 96 when books were scanned or fans edited them with adobe (I mean they typed the books online covers and all) ![]() I'm trying to locate the event viewer on the blasted windows 10, am still looking. Now I'm afraid to use calibre and don't know and trust any other application that will do the job. ![]() if someone can answer, I'm open to anything and everything. And VI: the thing keep shutting down on me, calibre error for the past two months |

6 Ways to Open Event Viewer in Windows 10
Do you not have a backup somewhere, maybe you took one before you upgraded to W10? BR Last edited by BetterRed; 07-14-2016 at 03:10 AM. |

Windows upgraded last year.
My own was old (2006), I've had trouble finding components for the motherboard, so I transferred my books on the external disk of my son, then when he needed his disk transferred them to this pc. No backup. I've been meaning to upload the books on the different accounts on line: 2shared, 4shared, mediafire, I keep postponing and six years later, I'm still here. |

Event Log
That's what I could recover from the log. What's not in plain English is all Greek to me. Maybe you can see. At this point no point crying over spilt milk: those books are lost

@daisygabina - do a search for 'metadata.db' if its found your books should be somewhere nearby, otherwise do a search for epubs. I find, when searching for data, its best to search from File Explorer rather than via a Win+S search.
