Book had no pages, so you see locations in the box.

OK, that's identical to 5.7.4 and fairly different to the images in the Amazon demo.

I checked some books on amazon.com and the "Page Flip: Enabled" matched "Enhanced Typesetting: Enabled" in that either both or neither was found in the small assortment of books I checked. This makes the association with KFX very likely.

I updated the Kindle app on my iPad to the new 5.0 release that supports page flip. I then took a public domain EPUB and converted it to both AZK and KFX and sideloaded these files. The AZK version did not allow page flip, but the sizeloaded KFX did allow it. More confirmation of the association of page flip with the KFX renderer.

ETA: Although the side loaded KFX allows page flip to be activated the thumbnail pages are mostly blank. I need to do more testing.

Does it work right now in the pw3? I downloaded a book with page flip enable but I don't see that feature in my device. 😔 Just the old page flip.
I have the latest firmware.

I have a PW3 and had the same question. It appears from the Amazon announcement that we have to wait for an update:

"Page Flip will be delivered as part of a free, over-the-air update starting today to Kindle E-readers, Fire tablets, and the free Kindle app for iOS and Android."

I don't know if the Kindle E-reader update is new firmware or something else.

BTW, my PW3 is always connected to WiFi and has firmware 5.7.4.1.

Do the new features here is the ability to see multiple pages at once? My Paperwhites and Voyage have had a page flip feature for a while now, where you swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

I have installed this new firmware on my Voyage and there is no change in that functionality for me.

Yes. There is now a toggle at the bottom of the screen in Page Flip mode to go from single page to multiple pages. I attached a screen capture of the message I got the first time that I opened a book with Page Flip enabled after I installed the update.

Thanks for the picture! I can send that to my Mom, and help her understand if she ever gets that same screen. And maybe teach her a new thing: swiping up from the bottom to this feature (even on older books without the 9-screen).

Well, this is a little strange: I wanted to see if my Fire HD6 was up to date. It shows '5.1.4' on the device, the Kindle Updates page says that '5.1.4.1' is current, but the .bin that is downloaded is named 'update-kindle-20.5.4.2_user_542169020.bin'. And when I put it on my Fire, it says that it is 'Unable to complete update because the update file is an earlier version than the one on your device'.

When I look at the Fire HD 6 (4th Generation) Software Updates page I see the file name you listed, but as version 5.1.2.1 (not 5.1.4.1).

I just restarted my Voyage and now its on there too. Its still on 5.8.1 as it was. I checked a book before and it only had the old page flip, I restarted and now that same book has the new page flip.

I guess maybe I didn't need to download 5.8.1.0.1 to my Oasis, wonder if a restart would have done it too. But I like to be on the newest software in any case.

I don't have it on my android app yet.

eta: and my Fire6 is on 5.1.2 and it there is no update to be found.
