Ahh, well, fair enough. Rant: I'm up at 4am local time due to an anxiety attack. I also can't find the Windows install CDs for my biofeedback software, I gave the Mac laptop to my younger daughter (because she kept getting Windows viruses) and I don't feel up to installing the software on the huge-screen Mac, besides which I feel like cuddling up with a nice quilt and a laptop, not sitting on an office chair in front of a huge glowing screen.

I had some chocolate (among other things), which helped some. I'm starting to feel drowsy again. Maybe I'll get SOME sleep tonight.

I had a few panic attacks about fifteen years ago - they're nasty!
Luckily, I don't get them any more (touch wood); but I've a lot of sympathy for those that do.

i'm very sorry, neko. you have my sympathy as well, i know what that is like. i hope you are feeling calmer soon and can get a good night's sleep.

my own personal grievance o'the day :

you can wait a really long time for water to boil, if you forget to turn on the heat. this is particularly frustrating when you are STARVING.

no, you're right, i am too young. yet somehow, they happen. (this is not the first time. but i'd rather forget to turn it on, than the opposite, which also happens to me. that is why i bought an electric kettle which shuts off *automatically*.) maybe it's just a problem with having a mind like a net bag, unrelated to age.

Somewhat similar occurrence last night. Put water on the stove to make pasta, had everything timed perfectly. Listened for the sputtering lid about 10 minutes later and heard nothing. Went over to check, and here I had turned on the wrong burner, which was blazing hot, while my pasta water sits there still cold on another burner.

And I had everything timed to be ready at the same time, I just hate when that happens.

I can beat that one. I am no longer allowed to have burner covers for my electric stove. Care to guess why?

I never understood those burner covers!! I often have 3 burners going at the same time. Black rings of whatever those elements are made of are not that ugly to me. It would just cause unnecessary removing and replacing every time I had to cook. Seems like a waste of time to me. But I still see them for sale at the Grocery and Dollar stores.
