After taking my daughter to the zoo, we were driving around South Bend and my wife spotted an Asian market we hadn't been to before. It has a completely different selection of teas than the shops we knew about. I was tempted to just buy one of each, but settled on a couple of pu erh teas and a keemun to try. It's a little late for tea now, though, so it's Leinenkugel's Grapefruit Shandy for now while I sniff the dry tea leaves and wait for morning.

CRussel, my condolences.

Yes. Sir William Wallace of Ellerslie retired today. He was the hardest working Cavalier King Charles Spaniel ever, and I don't know how I'll manage to finish this current book project without him curled up under my desk, providing comfort and guidance.

I drank a wee dram or two of Octomore this evening, thinking of him.

I thought that might be the case. Good luck and happy memories.

I'm trying the Keemun. Its mellow lack of bitterness reminds me of a Darjeeling, but it's more malty and less floral. There's an almost citrusy sourness and an oak aftertaste.

I like it.

So sorry - treasure the happy memories - once the pain has lessened, they will bring him back into your life ....

A good Keemun is amazing.

I am working on a Darjeeling right now. It really is amazing how much better it tastes when steeped at the right temperature. I have no idea why the Darjeelings I had been drinking earlier were steeped at 205...

Yeah, you thought I was a bit bonkers about them, didn't you?
I'm on the road and have nothing. But I can wish I had a good Keemun.

I'm trying one of the loose pu-erh teas and I'm not really a fan. The flavor's interesting and complex, but the strange sweetness is a little overpowering. It reminds me of a combination of coffee and tequila.

Just finished my last tea for the day, but I'll be making a round trip to New England tonight, so I have at least one tall foam cup of road coffee ahead of me.

I just figured we had different tastes.

Pu-Erhs can have very different flavors depending on where they are produced and how long they have been sitting. I find that I prefer the Touchas to the loose leaf Pu erhs. I do like the loose leaf Pu erh at Teavana but that has been the only one.

Seven Sons and Camel's Breath are my go to Pu Erhs, they are both available at Gong Fu tea. I do like the individual touchas that Gong Fu sells as well.

http://www.gongfu-tea.com/sunshop/in...t_detail&p=114 Camel's Breath is $11 for a large toucha that makes a ton of tea. I would try that first and if you like it, give the Seven Sons a go.

http://www.gongfu-tea.com/sunshop/in...t_detail&p=370 Seven Sons is $40 so see if you like the touchas better before trying it.
