Is there some way to make a purchased azw2 drm free? I suspect the kindlet.data file might have something to do with copy protection.

Search this site for the word: "DRM"

DRM removal is a prohibited topic here by site policy, but references to off-site facilities is allowed, and you will find some good ones here.

I have an easier way to just avoid DRM.
On every kindle book page: scroll down to product details.
If you see this
Simultaneous Device Usage: Unlimited
There is no DRM.
Problem solved.

Guys: the publishers on Amazon choose rather or not to DRM their books. Has nothing to do with the formats.

And I know there are ways to make ebooks drm free but these are programs, not ebooks. So there must be a difference.

Google Apprentice Alf and that's it. No more help available. If you are talking about the Active Content games I've never heard of anyone doing anything with them...
