sufue, I've just had a look at some of the mystery/crime genre listed in Open Road media, and found that some ebooks have Kobo listed and some don't (see pic below).

Here's the link to the page I was on:
http://www.openroadmedia.com/catalog...sub_genre=1130

I don't know enough about the situation to comment ....

IMO Kobo UK and Ireland usually represent the better choices of books on sales of this nature than other countries.

I've price-matched a couple that I really wanted, since I'm not fond of either Google Play or BN to get an epub, and that has worked, but it's odd.

I wonder what the issue is. The first time I noticed it a few days ago, I figured it was some temporary Kobo glitch (and it may still be) but it's been going on for a while now...
I did!
It just started a couple of days ago, I wonder what happened. I would price match, but I've promised myself that I wouldn't be spending any *actual* money on books right now (that includes ALL eretailers!) and I don't have a gift card to to cover it.

And Kobo is still missing for today's Early Bird/Open Road email. I know it's silly since Alf and Calibre can take care of things, but I really prefer the ePub and can't stand BN or Google Play, so Kobo has been my go-to for Open Road deals. (And I also got the VIP discount on top of the sale price at Kobo, which did seem like icing on the cake, but was nice...)

And although I can price-match, I suspect that will get old really fast, and doesn't get the VIP discount. Oh well, I guess I'll just buy from Amazon when I want to buy.

With Kobo being Kobo, I wonder if they even know this is happening!

(@Lynx-lynx - it's in their daily deals email, called Early Bird Books, not on their website, although it's really interesting that Kobo is spotty even there...)

Many, many, many of the deals--especially if they come direct from a publisher, are set by the publisher, not the retailer (ie not Kobo). More of the deals these days are publisher and author supported than in the past. Part of this is because some publishers do not want the books to be discounted (they are very into price control right now and they don't want "matching" done on larger sites because it can be difficult to get a "matching" deal reverted to the regular price in a timely manner.)

This is a deal (really a daily email with deals) from a publisher, Open Road Media. It's just that it used to include Kobo along with the other major retailers, and for the last few days the Kobo links haven't been included in the email, and the books aren't on sale at Kobo, although they are on sale at all of the others.

You'd probably have to ask the publisher why they are no longer including Kobo in the sales. There could be numerous reasons (they might be in a Kobo sale on one of the coupon pages, for example--and in that case, if they had a lower price specified AND a coupon it might end up selling for less than they planned.) It may be something simple or an oversight on their end (the kobo person is on vacation?) There are LOTS of little details to be taken care of when a sale is done, trust me!

I finally got a 90% off coupon code that was not the same as the last 3 and actually worked on any book I wanted. That's been a while!

Agreed. For all of these selected book promos that they have done over the years, I have only once bought a book from the "selected" list.

I noticed that Kobo would frequently not have the price dropped when they were linked in that email. Maybe Open Road gave up on linking them because of that.

I like to get the discounted ones at Kobo too, so I'll price match them if I really want it. Although my library has access to hoopla digital which includes all Open Road books, so I can always check them out there.

If I want the classic freebie, I usually get it at B&N. They have occasionally been left out of the links in the email too, but I have only very rarely seen B&N not have the sale price (even when they weren't linked).

If anyone wants to comment about the removal of this thread, ostensibly for 'housekeeping reasons' from the 'stickies', then here is the link to the discussion thread: 'Where's my thread', started by Issybird
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=275326

For what it's worth .... I consider that this thread should remain 'stickied', there are active discounts in the Opening post, and, whilst it's nowhere near as busy as it was, discount codes are fairly regularly posted and shared.

Anybody else notice a large credit on their Kobo account?
I don't know what this from. It's either the Apple settlement payout (for which I haven't received any email notification) or possibly long long ago referral bonuses?
