It was. They thought it was GERD from old age or the food. I from the beginning said it was something she was getting ahold of. I removed all plastic because she loves to lick plastic. Anything I could think of. Cleaned the carpet, change water brands nothing seemed to fix it. Tried wet food and that was a disaster for both of them.

The cabinets are painted black inside It's really hard to see anything. It was her favorite hide spot for Hide N Seek.
She loves that game. If I don't play along she will start talking so I can find her.

It's been a rough couple of months and I've lost so much sleep having to keep watch when she was ill. I'm glad it's over.

So I'm going through my books looking for romantic suspense series and I happen across an author who books I was collecting. Does anyone know what happened to Lorie O'Clare? Is she still writing maybe under a new name. Her Bountyhunter series never finished. Anyone know why? Did the publisher drop her or something?

Any recommendations on romantic suspense books specially any good series is welcomed. I'm putting together a TBR list. I threw my old one out. I'm just not interested in certain tropes anymore.

Free, Arouse - Nina Lane

GR rating: 4.06, 11,698 ratings

I've read this series and do recommend it, 4+ stars IMO.

About:
Sexy and brilliant scholar of medieval history Professor Dean West is the love of Liv West's life. He is her everything—a loving and giving husband, her white knight, and an intensely passionate and skilled lover. Never retreating from Liv’s dark secrets, Dean has all of her—today, tomorrow, always.

Then Liv discovers she doesn’t have all of him...

BOOK ONE in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nina Lane's sexy, passionate SPIRAL OF BLISS series. This contemporary erotic romance about Professor Dean West, a protective alpha male, and his cherished beauty Olivia will melt your heart, turn you on, and enchant you with the power of a love to end all loves.

NonSuspense tropes I am no longer interested in:

Cowboys - this use to be a favorite of mine so my TBR was mostly this. Removed them all.
Contemporary Romance unless it's a rock star series or MMA fighter. Not sure why I like these yet.
Historicals of any kind.

The Suspense kind I am looking for is a page turner with plenty of action and adventure or a very good mystery plot.

I'd love to find some books full of crazy sauce. Tiffany Snow is the only ones I know about though.

I started Axel by Harper Sloan so we will see if this series is for me or not.

While paranormal or sci-fi is not really wanted right now it's on a case by case basis. Modern world setting though.

Have you read the Amanda Stevens Graveyard Queen series? I'm not really into paranormal either, but I really have enjoyed them. I've only done the first three in the series so far though.
I'm assuming you have done all the Elizabeth Lowell/Ann Maxwell books? Some of those are pretty good.
Those are just off the top of my head. Funny ones are hard to come by though. Mom enjoyed Janet Evanovich's Metro Girl/Motor Mouth books.
I have Hallmark Channel and there are a few move series on there based on books. I haven't read them yet, but the movies seem to be pretty funny. One is the Hanna Swenson series by Joanne Fluke. Another is the Aurora Teagarden series by Charlaine Harris. I would say these fall more under cozy than suspense, but maybe if you just want light and fluffy/silly.
Hope this helps, finding new authors/books is hard!

I've not read much by her as her writing style doesn't flow for me, but have you tried Kristen Ashley? I've often heard her books described as "like crack."

I couldn't get into the triangle in the Tiffany Snow series, so haven't read enough of her to be sure what it is you need.

Action/adventure series:

The Devlin Group by Shannon Stacey
  1. 72 Hours [June 2006]
  2. On the Edge [Mar 2007]
  3. No Surrender [Aug 2009]
  4. No Place to Hide [Aug 2014]
(fair warning I disliked the heroine in the first book a lot because of reasons
Spoiler:
secret baby plot
but the series gets better as it goes along.

Carka Neggers' Sharpe & Donovan series is about two FBI agents. The heroine is an art crimes expert. IIRC you don't care for series which follow a single couple though, so not sure if you'd like.

It's been a while since Tami Hoag actually wrote romantic suspense (as opposed to straight suspense), but I remember liking her early 90s stand alone titles.

We've talked about Cindy Gerard's various action/adventures before The Bodyguards/Black Ops Inc/One-Eyed Jacks

HelenKay Dimon writes several action/adventure series (both m/f and m/m). She's an author I want to love, but is more hit-or-miss for me.

Jayne Ann Krentz has written a number of stand-alone books which I would refer to as murder-mystery-lite.

No I haven't read any Lowell books. I'm not sure if the graveyard series would interests me. I had to stop the Cat & Bones series because it got too dark. I have read the Motor Mouth series. It was okay not as good as Plum.

They don't need to be light or funny. I'm looking for action and adventure something that will keep me reading.

Right now I've added.

Cindy Gerard - BPL has the bodyguard series and I've requested omnibuses of her other series.
Lorie O'Claire Bodyguard series
Harper Sloan - Corp Security series.
Meliss Melton
Shannon McKenna
Maya Banks - KGI series
Tara Jansen - Street series
Roxanne St Claire - Bullet catchers
Suzanne Brockmann

I'm looking for more. I'm also looking for books full of crazy sauce like Tiffany Snow. Her books are not funny. She runs her heroines through the ringer before they get a HEA. I love that. Reminds me of the old historicals where at the end you wonder how the heroine is even alive still.

Thanks for the cozies recs I do read those on the side. I'm reading Shelly Fredman still on that genre. Almost done.

I've read the whole Bullet Catchers series by Roxanne St. Claire, and I loved those.

I've also read 1-11 of the Troubleshooters series by Brockmann. The first one was not the greatest, but number three was my favorite. But I quit after #11.

I can highly recommend Pamela Clare's I-Team series, as well as Laura Griffin's Tracers series. I've only recently discovered Laura Griffin & am racing through the series. Christy Reece is also excellent.

Thank you! I have some of Griffin's books and Reece's. I'll add them to the list. The problem is my Calibre Library is disorganized. It's also on my desktop which hubby hogs so no time to organize. I do have a backup on Dropbox where I can grab books. I'll look for the I-Team series.

I'm on #4 in the Troubleshooter series. Wildcard's story. I'm on #2 in the Bulletcatchers.

I liked most of the Bulletcatchers books, but read them back in my print days.

I gave away all of my Brockmann books and deleted my digital copies after her actions when Dark of Night released. I liked some of the books, but only loved two of the couples and will never be able/want to reread them, so adiós.

Wicked Temptations

In .mobi and ePub only. I don't know anything about either the authors or the books, but it's five full-length novels so I'm giving it a shot.

Historical romance, all five are the first in a series.
