One of my favorite romances ever is on sale for $0.99:

Lightning That Lingers by Sharon and Tom Curtis

This is a wonderful old Loveswept that was recently reissued in ebook format. Sharon and Tom Curtis were my favorite authors back in the day (1980's). They are best known for The Windflower which they wrote under the pen name Laura London.

I don't typically like the shy, naive virgin trope, but somehow they pulled it off like no one else could. In the book, the heroine is a shy, sheltered librarian, while the hero is a wildlife biologist that specializes in owls, but moonlights as a male stripper to earn money to restore his family's old mansion - I know, it sounds like absolute crazy sauce, but somehow, it all actually works beautifully. Just keep in mind that it was written in the 80's and has not been updated, so there are some things that are totally outdated.

The books are all set in the same city, with a large cast of characters and their families. But then she has mini-series within the series. So there's:
  • The Precinct (original series)
  • The Precinct: Vice Squad
  • The Precinct: Brotherhood of the Badge
  • The Precinct: SWAT
  • The Precinct: Task Force
  • The Precinct: Cold Case
  • The Precinct: Bachelors in Blue (?)
But I just list them all as "The Precinct" in Calibre.

What can be fun is the heroine from 2015's Kansas City Confessions first appeared as a pregnant teenaged kidnapping victim in 2006’s Search and Seizure. And she was now a single mom with her 9 year old son. So the books mostly adhere to near "real time." The boss in the Cold Case mini-series was the heroine one of the books in The Taylor Clan series in 2001 (The Pricint series is basically a spinoff/sequel of The Taylor Clan as she ran out of sibling ) The hero in the most recent book is one of the brothers of the heroine in an earlier book. So there's a lot of stuff like that.

They are mostly average books, but every now and then she really hits one out of the park.

Marie Ferrarella has her Cavanaugh Justice series which is up over 30 books now. Plus JD Robb's In Death series.

So, a lot

I bought that back in 2012 and still have yet to read it.

I don't consider In Death series romance. For some reason I thought the Cavanaugh Justice series was about judges and lawyers. I never can keep them all straight.

I think when I'll die I'll have all these lonely books wondering why didn't she ever read me, and the TBR will still be a mile long.

IIRC Debra Webb is up to around 60 books in her Colby Agency private investigator series.

I had no idea she was still writing for Harlequin. I thought she stopped for some reason. I guess self publishing didn't work out.

Lots of writer run a hybrid operation, self publishing only their backlist is a very frequent variation.

Webb was doing a series called Evil I think it got picked up by a publisher. She was then working on another indie series. Her backlist she pretty much gave away to everyone.

I remember her saying on Facebook that she was either thinking of or was leaving Harlequin. She's been pretty silent lately though.

Checking in

This is just a quick update on Maisy. After months of digestive issues and switching foods for her she is doing great.

All vomiting has stopped, her appetite is returning to normal and she gaining back the weight she lost. I've taken off the indoor care formula and have them on just regular adult cat food from the same brand.

We also found the source of what was causing her to be ill. She was being poisoned by something in the kitchen cabinets. I put two and two together when after two weeks of her getting better she went into the cabinet by the fridge. she's loves to play in those cabinets but she can't get out by herself. After I let her out of there she immediately started to vomit. This lasted three days but she is all better now and the cabinets have been nailed shut. I have to put my bakeware in storage.

I'm guessing the previous tenant put some thing under there for bugs or mice. There's no way of knowing. I wish I had put the connection together sooner. She could go days fine then get sick for a couple of days. It was so bad I had to feed her a handful of food a little at a time or it came up.

She is up to half a cup a day now and energetic again. It's good to have my girl back to normal.
