Kindle Paperwhite on sale for $20.00. - Page 2

I received notification this morning that my Paperwhite has shipped with delivery tomorrow, and the email shows the price of $21.67. Right now I have a first-version Paperwhite, so this will be a nice upgrade for me.

It's showing sold out for me. It's possible a good number of people ordered it for $20.

Well, you did have to be online at what, 11 p.m. Central time to get the deal. Probably didn't last more than an hour or two. It was fixed within about 15 minutes of ordering mine.

Maybe Amazon will have a sale for the Oasis for $10 off and the person updating the website will misread it and mark it for sale for $10

I happen to notice this amazing sale last night around 10pm pacific time. I immediately ordered the item. I received a confirmation email. I then checked about 30 minutes ago and saw that my order had been canceled. No email apology or any explanation. It actually seems like it is saying I canceled the transaction.

I called customer service. First guy was the call drops right after I say that I ordered a kindle last night for the 20 dollar cost, the call ended.

I called back

So I tell the first person what happened and she transfers me to kindle support.
wait on hold.

Explain to the first guy and he leaves twice to check with a supervisor and after 20 min on hold tells me that this was a mistake and that is why it was cancelled. I said "can i know why i was not notified of a cancellation". Said that the system doesn't notify in those instances. Then assumes I will be ok with the answer being their mistake. I said I want a supervisor.

After an exhausting 30 min of the supervisor call the best that I am offered is $20.00 off the $99.00 price. Which will be applied once the item has shipped. They didn't honor the price error for me. So those of you who they did are lucky. I did put the order through although am on the fence whether or not i will cancel it.

And it's that type of abuse that's precisely why stores don't honour this type of mistake. There's always someone who will try to profit from it.

I knew this was a price mistake, and a bit of a long-shot, so no complaints. My old Paperwhite has been a trusty companion for almost three years and will be fine for a while longer.

EDIT:

The postman delivered my new Paperwhite this afternoon. I guess it was delivered to USPS before it could be recalled. Anyways, I'm a happy man.

I doubt they would plan like that, but I can imagine that if Amazon had honored the mistaken price, that would be their rationale.

God forbid someone one hears that someone got something they didn't. If Amazon tried to be nice to people who happened to stumble on this mistake for the short time it was possible to get the error through the shipping process, they'd have a bunch of disgruntled people claiming they are due the same, despite the fact that no one was due anything of the kind.

So I have to ask. Did they keep the $20 or refund it? This has got be the craziest error I've heard about. Congrats on your Kindle.

I received the cancellation as well and today only received the COVER for it. I was not given the opportunity to cancel the rest of my order, so they will be getting it back. I was excited, but hey, it was a mistake, so I knew I might not get it.
