I count fade to black to be in the Romance category you just have to use your imagination. I have some of her books. I think it's fantasy though so no idea when I'll ever read them.

A huge part of me wants to pre-order them both. But then I already got a $25 Kobo gift card from Swagbucks to purchase them and the points give me a day off usually from having to get sb. Decisions, decisions...

So I'm reading Tiffany Snow's Risky Business series. I've finished Power Play and over half way into Play Dirty. For me compared to her books by Montlake these are just okay.

It's not even the same plot elements that is the problem. I realize she is working with a different editor and rules. It feels constricted. There is no crazy sauce and the anti hero element that just makes her books have that extra special feel is missing. I don't blame the author. I feel she gave what she could with what she had to work with. I find nothing special about the male leads. A cop and a business man. Ryker is your typical romance cop hero and Parker is not that interesting. The heroine is the only character I like. She seems stronger and smarter than Kathleen or Ivy so far.

There really is no epic build up like her other books. Still the author has a way keeping me reading to see how it ends and the cameos are fun. She's an amazing writer specially when she does lay on the crazy sauce. Do not start with this series, to date her Tangled Ivy series is the best.

One thing I miss is I'm having to read the series as the narrator for the audiobooks is horrible! She can't do voices other then YA type and her voice isn't deep enough to do a male voice. Very bad choice.

The other book I finished isn't worth talking about.
In Rides Trouble by Julie Ann Walker (2.5) I think that will be the last book in the series for me. The first book was a five star but this was just...really badly done.

Some interesting comments Blossom about that series. I think you really hit on what I couldn't quite put my finger on. I ended up dnf'ing the 3rd in that series.

I think without the crazy sauce, it highlighted some of the stuff that just didn't work for me even more. The balance of the triangle stuff just worked better for me in the Kathleen series.

Its like they took the special sauce cray cray out of that series with that big publisher.

I'll need to continue the Ivy series, along with so many series. I just can't keep up anymore with everything I want to read. Its overwhelming sometimes.

Its all reading for me though, I can't listen to audiobooks. Just can't get into them.

I am currently on a roll of reading my favorite sub genre again, historical romance.

I think it obvious who she will wind up with and I have to ask myself why? Ms Snow has a new book by Montlake coming out later this year and I'm looking forward to it.

I've tried to read historical but my imagination seems to be stuck in modern times. I started Wicked Intentions but stopped because I couldn't get into it. Not because it's not well written or the plot but because I just couldn't see the scenes in my head without modern things showing up. I'm going to stick with romantic suspense till I feel I can read something else.

Question, do epub3 files work the same in Calibre as regular epubs? I'm not sure if I've ever bought one [without even knowing it], but there's one I want and I just happened to notice before I bought it that it's epub3.

The ones I have bought have been okay despite the warning on Kobo. I have ADE 2.1 I think so the book still downloads as EPub2 as far as I am aware. I was concerned too, but they are nicely tucked up in Calibre and Alfed.
