I'd say very politely ask for the source, if it's legit Android! It's very unlikely for me to want Android on my Kindle, I'd rather have it on my Kobo, but still it's a worthy cause.

So I believe what you should do is use the open-sourced fastboot tool for kindle to flash loader.bin to main-kernel (fastboot flash kernel loader.bin) and reboot kindle. After this kindle's original uboot will boot the 'uboot-test', so the android-like fastboot will be started. Then you can use fastdownload.exe in that zip achive to flash android's kernel/recovery/system automaticly. If this method failed, you can still use fastboot tool to flash you kindle back to stock OS. Last edited by bt4wang; 12-17-2015 at 08:40 PM. |

guys, if i buy one of these, is it at all possible to lift the stuff the guy did and share it/look at it?
or, without the sources it is useless? = i'm thinking of sending a kindle to him and getting this done, it would be nice if i could get the files/system and put it on another kindle, instead of sending both to him... ![]() - i understand that without the sources it will be really difficult to see 'how it works'. but for many users, simply 'having it working' is enough. Luckily, I have two KT2s. So, if someone has the Kindle with android, i'd like to ask some questions. 1.if your Kindle is jailbeaked, you can use the kTerm and type"idme -s". If it shows "bootmode diags", the uboot-test can be flashed into diags-kernel. 2.My broken kindle is now in download mode, which can be flashed by freescale's MFGTool2. Who can get the images out from the device? I'm afraid of making the only kindle bricked. Anybody else can try? Oh, @zxczxc , looks like you are a Chinese? If U have Wechat, QQ or eMail, email me at "KindleAndroidMan@yopmail.com", we can talk about it together. Please reply soon. |

Interesting idea to flash Android. With Linux/Ubuntu one has better control and it's better suited for devices with little RAM.

Better control than WHAT? The eink kindles already run Linux, and the busybox they use is better suited to low-RAM devices than a host of independent tools that may come in a large-RAM android device.

The original busybox is lame so I added a better one. Anyhow I don't have an installer to replace the existing symlinks and to create the new ones - so nothing to post here atm.
Within Android one is in a sandbox, so I really wonder why why one would want to install it on the Kindle hardware. |

I think it would be great to install Android on kindle: the play store has thousands of fantastic apps that we could use and, also, it would be so cool!

Yes, but does it has e-ink?
Anyway, this is a "kindle hacking" forum, we should investigate for things like this |
