Husbands who make oatmeal using two bowls so that the Little Man expects oatmeal to be made in one bowl and then transferred to another and has a 30 minute melt down when oatmeal is made in one bowl.

I just lost $20 in ground beef. Our local supermarket had a sale on 5LB packages. I bought two. Sell by date today. It's been in the fridge two days.
Our fridge is super cold. I went to separate the meat and freeze it and it's all grey and gross looking. Not a hint of pink and you can tell it's just bad. I've never had this happen before. I checked the fridge and everything is as it should be. I guess no hamburgers for us. ![]() Sent from my XT1528 using Tapatalk |

I thought I read that pink was artificially induced by adding oxygen. If it smells okay, I'd cook it and see what you think. You can always toss it after.

I'm not smelling it. It's looks horrible. I'm not saying I'd never had ground beef turn brownish or even a greyish when cut into or on the edges but I've never seen ground beef turn completely devoid of color It's completely grey It looks disgusting. It use to be pinkish red. It had an off look about it.
Never in my 38 years have I seen such a thing. Sent from my XT1528 using Tapatalk |

I have seen grey a time or two but it was always after being frozen. And I know it was red when we froze it.
Since the sell by date was today and if you still have the receipt call the store. |

Yeah that's the plan. It's a very old store. Kind of dirty and worn from age and I'm pretty sure it means one of their refrigerated cases is on its way out. They have to be at least 20 years old.
They probably won't replace anything but it's worth a shot. I think I'll stick to Save A Lot's ground beef from now on. I've never had an issue with them. I It was mom's idea to buy from there. Sent from my XT1528 using Tapatalk |

I never buy commercial ground beef. I either grind it myself, or buy from the local butcher who grinds it daily from his own beef. You really, _really_ don't want to know what's in that commercial stuff.

I buy my ground beef at one of the two better grocery stores in town. That way I know it is good.
If you have a Kroger's or Albertsons or HEB, their meat is always good and ground on site that day. Now I will buy Walmart ground beef if I am going to cook it that day. One of the few things I don't skimp on. Sometimes they have better prices than Walmart. |

We have Save A Lot, Schnucks, Shop N Save, Walmart, Dierbergs and Aldi's.
I will not name the local store. My mom is partial to it but not me. I get my meat from Save A Lot. They have 5 packages for $20. If you get there when they put them out you can get some great deals. All meat I've bought has been good quality. In Tennessee it was Ingles where I shopped or Food City. In Raleigh Walmart Neighborhood Market. They have different meat than supercenters. butcher quality. I won't buy non branded meat from any supercenter. I've found it to be subpar. Sent from my XT1528 using Tapatalk |

That is great. They closed our Save a lot years ago. It is now a cost saver. Been in there once, shelf prices look cheaper but when you add in the 10% fee at the counter, they are higher than Walmart.
I have been by one Aldi but the baskets were locked up. It looked like you had to put in money to get a basket. |

Lexie died this morning.
For the last three years she's had a wobbly back. According to the vet it was a neurological problem and nothing could be done about it. As long as we kept her nails trimmed she wouldn't be in much pain, but she had wobbly days and more stable days. This morning my father heard her use the litter and shortly after she started meowing. Her back legs were paralysed. My parents took her to the weekend vet and they also saw that her front legs were starting to go and her pupils were extremely dilated. Luckily the vet agreed that it was time to let her go. She might have improved a bit but she would be very dependant on getting to her food, water and litter box. With the other symptoms and her other illnesses it was the right choice not to let it drag on. Luckily we were able to say goodbye and she didn't seem to be in pain. She was mostly annoyed and demanded attention. We've seen this coming for months and I'm glad it all went quickly and comfortably for her. We probably won't be getting another cat. It's a commitment and with the Family Thing dragging on the future is unclear. We will be donating the food we have to an animal shelter (my mother had ordered €90 worth of food earlier this week), but for now we're going to keep the cat pillows/baskets, litter box and food bowls because you never know. I'm already missing her immensely. |

One thing I always wonder about. Animals never seem to complain about anything. They just try to make the best of things until the very end. I always find that amazing. |

She had her painful days before the vet put her on pain medication and if you knew her well you know she was behaving differently. This morning she was her dictatorial self, demanding attention and letting you know where she wanted to be scratched. |
