Calibre Ignoring Own Author Sort Settings?

I set the "author sort name algorithm" to "copy" so I can find books without telling Calibre which naming convention goes with each book.

I just added another empty book entry, and despite the setting, Calibre insists on sorting it by the second name.

How do I set the settings so Calibre consistently follows the settings, and groups the entry with the others by the same author?

How can I find and fix all the books Calibre insists on sorting some other way?

According to the Faq: "You can force calibre to recalculate the author sort values for every author by right clicking on any author and selecting Manage authors, then pushing the Recalculate all author sort values button. Do this after you have set the author_sort_copy_method tweak to what you want."

But I can't, there's no "Manage authors" in sight.

P.S. Okay, it's hidden away in the "tag browser."

Manage Authors can be accessed via
  • The Alter Tag Browser button in the Tag Browser (left sidebar)
  • Right-click menu of author name in Book Details (right sidebar)
  • Right-click menu of any author name in Tag Browser (left sidebar)
  • Head and shoulders icon in Single Metadata Edit
  • Drop-down menu on the Blue Arrow button between Authors and Author Sort in Single Metadata Edit

You can also use Bulk mode

Tick Automatically set Author Sort (that is all you need to do for most bulk mode ticks. they will do what they say against selected books)
