I have never tried Armour chili. I will have to try it. Some of my favorite foods are throw in a pot and just let cook. Here is a simple chicken soup. Throw your favorite chicken pieces in some water in a pan. (Boneless, skinless is easier but not as flavorful.) If boned with skin, you will have to pull out the chicken and strip it when it is done. I have a strainer I put the chicken in to cook. Add some garlic if you like. (Powder, minced, or a chopped clove of garlic) Throw in some onion if you like onion. Cook until the chicken is done. Add potatoes. You can also put in some carrots. Cook till vegetables are tender. Slice in some Velveeta or favorite store brand cheese. Stir until melted. (You can also substitute ground beef for the chicken.) Or cook the chicken, add garlic, onion, cajun/creole spice. Then add smoked sausage, tomatoes and cook a while. Add some okra if you like it. Canned tomatoes and frozen sliced okra. Chunk in some rice, minute, brown whatever you have. Cook till rice is done. Add water as needed. |

I'm not a soup fan unless it potato soup. Unfortunately my potato soup turns out bad so I stick to Chunky. Sent from my XT1528 using Tapatalk |

I used to love to cook. But, after being a stay-at-home dad for two decades, the thrill is gone. I'll still cook when necessary, but I take days off, take shortcuts, and just generally complain about it.

Separating the meal planning from the cooking helps a lot, for me.

I love cooking. It is the only place left for men, where they can be alone (I was thinking about the bathroom, but this is a food thread so....). I can close the door to the kitchen, listen to talkradio, and read while stirring in the pots and pans. Actually, I think the e-reader was invented for this. In the old days I would have to put something heavy on the pages of the book, so it wouldn't flip, and I lost count of the number of books being burnt for forgetting them on the stove. Not now. No matter the number of pages in the book, it's always flat.

I cook out of necessity. I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and need to eat healthier foods. Fast food and convenience foods have too much fat, sodium and/or sugar to eat very often. If only restaurants and convenience food manufacturers would realize that if a person is cutting back on fat they probably need to cut back on the other two as well. |

Are you kidding??? I LOVE to cook. Probably even more than reading! I'll cook anywhere, anytime. I'll cook in a kitchen, over a camp fire, on a grill. Of course, I love eating. I'm not a picky eater or even a fancy cook. My favorite is baking. How I love a great chocolate cake. Or cookies. Or eclairs. Oh, yes, how I do love a good eclair...
