Well... It all depends on your lifestyle.

If like me you tend to stay in, it can be fun.
If you're a city dweller, not.
If you're continually on the move and drive a lot, definitely not.

You have to live with nature, it is something we tend to avoid or try to translate to human scales. Of course we can not, she rules. If one is patient, loves nature and keeps ready, winter is enjoyable.

As a boyscout I used to enjoy winter camping in a tent, it was truly fun. I had no aching bones then!

I think you just hit it on the head. When we lived in the midwest, my husband had just retired. Coming from California, we were always 'earthquake ready', and carried that over to living there. So, when ice storms came, or we were snowed in, it was always a pleasure. Even living out in the country, when power went out, we had kerosene stoves for heat and melting snow for water to flush the toilet, camping stoves and propane for cooking, and plenty of canned food.

Now, had my husband been one of the crews that had to go out in that mess to try and restore power, or on the sheriffs deptartment, or hospital personnel, It wouldn't have been fun.

I will always remember the utility crews working 24/7 to restore power. The sheriffs delivering meds to older people who needed them and couldn't get out.

I totally love snow days when I don't have to do anything. My heart goes out to those who do have to drive around in bad weather though.

As I mentioned in December, outages due to snow aren't so bad. We have a wood stove and snow melts easily enough to provide water.

The ice storm, on the other hand, was more difficult.
