England fares better than Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - globing warming is also helping .

For anyone who's interested, here's a Met Office map showing annual average sunshine across the UK 1971-2000.

i've found some maps of sunshine in france. the first one is annual totals from 1961-1990. i suspect things have changed since then. it's on the site of Météo-France, the french meteorology bureau. they give some further info : one year of complete sunshine = 4380 hours. so 1600 h = 36%, 2200 h = 50%, 2800 h= 64%.

the second map is easier to read and gives more details but i don't know what period the data represents. it does look like paris is already getting a bit more sun than the sunniest part of england, so i suppose that's some consolation.

Actually, I have found one place with perfect weather year round. But it's tooo expensive to live there.... (Yep, Hawaii.)

oh well, if the weather is perfect every day, i think you'd get tired of it... i actually do like having distinct seasons ; it allows you to be more aware of cycles and the passing of time. otherwise, all the days look alike...

It has been said that the actual perfect climate is on the campus of the University of Sri Lanka. nearly on the equator and 7000 feet elevation. A perfect 72 F year round. Arthur C. Clarke was the Regent or Provost or something like that there.

I really missed the spring when I lived in New Mexico. It was cold in January and Februari and in March the sun came out (and only left at night) and the temperatures soared. You didn't have those fragile green colourings on the trees, the leaves grew out too quick. I love the early spring, when the buds on the trees are just about to open.

And pshrynk, I think I'd be so bored after one year that I'd love an old fashioned snow storm.
