How about "DeDRM"? Nice and unambiguous...

I once used "alfed" to say this, but not everyone would get the reference.

I just checked again, and it is still a silly argument. But I guess I will reiterate what I said before, in the hope that it is both obvious enough and uncontroversial to the point where we could all agree and go get some sleep tonight. |

I am cool with that. Except ApK won't agree to it now since I agreed. He appears to be on a personal crusade against me in every witch way (pun intended, Maria would probably get it). I am apparently using terms wrong, and to prove it to me he redefines those terms to, guess what? The exact same meaning that was so wrong out of my mouth before. I imagine he could make a good lawyer.

How about 'Delock'? Which has the advantage of not being a word. |

That has potential. I'll disagree with you, since DT is feeling over-persecuted. Wasn't the whole point to distinguish between two different types of DeDRMing? The type where you are only given more control over stuff you already have access to, and the type that could give you access to stuff you aren't otherwise able to access. So "DeDRM," along with "cracking," is exactly the ambigous term We were trying to disambiguate. How about "fair-use-enabling?" Doesn't exactly roll of the keyboard though. | |

The expansion is brilliant, but the acronym..um...stinks. Could I sell you on Reasonably Aquired Fair Terms? Last edited by ApK; 06-01-2016 at 08:15 AM. |
