Didn't Amazon recall or stop selling the Oasis with the Black Covers? IF they did maybe that's why they are not available.

That's good to know ! Did you use it with or without the cover ? I was surprised when I didn't see any Oasis devices at the beaches here.

There haven't been THAT many of them sold yet!! That's why they are back-ordered so badly. I'd be surprised to find one in the wild for a while, since they are expensive and probably not produced in quite the quantities that a lower priced device would be.

Mine doesn't even have that. I think they pulled all the eReaders about a month or so ago. I don't visit them often enough to check for sure, and they re-arrange things constantly. So, maybe they've moved them to the bathrooms or something....

They had a bad time keeping them charged enough to test. Seems like every time I'd pick one up it was dead.

Yet, the tablets were all charged.

That's true, I thought about putting up a poll, to see if folks are using them in the wild, beaches, camping ...... Then I thought maybe not enough of them were at this point. Most here on MR have only talked about using their Oasis at home or work, outside at lunch. Safer environments. One person so far did use their Oasis at the beach.

LOL ! That's one place I haven't looked yet ! ( bathrooms) That sounds like the Staples we have around here. Our Best Buy is better at displays & charging them. I don't think I ever saw a working Voyage at our Staples, come to think of it.

I am not lying on a towel in the sand. I am sitting in a chair. I didn't get any sand on it and I was out about every day for 2 weeks. I read it out of the case. I kept the case in my basket and put the Oasis in it when I was ready to go. I have also read my Paperwhite 2 and Voyage on the the beach in the past. I haven't had sand on them either

That's good to know Poodlemom1, That you have no concerns about using your Oasis out of it's cover at the beach. So I guess, with using sun screen ( hands), wasn't a problem with holding the Oasis. I was wondering about that too. Only because it's so light compared to the others.
