Well, I don't know if this is just me (I hope not, otherwise this is a pretty stupid first post), but I cant access any QuestionableQuesting downloads. I have tried the command-line, Appspot website, and Calibre versions of FFF, but all give me the following error:

(Actually the website just gives me a "Malformed Request" error, but I digress)
I am rather irritated, as this continually blocks me from downloading some of my favorite fanfics. I have not edited any config files, and I know for a fact that QQ isnt down when I try, but nothing seems to work. I am fully updated, both in calibre and FFF as well, so I dont think it's a tech-lag issue.
Oh, and I'm running a 32-bit windows 8 laptop. Not 8.1, if that matters a whole bunch.

Unfortunately, I think it is just you. Or at least, it isn't me because it worked fine for me in CLI and plugin on Win8 64bit. (The webservice failed, but with a different error:DeadlineExceededError: The overall deadline for responding to the HTTP request was exceeded. Which indicates the QQ site was probably being slow or something.)

You might not have the most current Microsoft Root certificate update installed. Please see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931125 and install the Microsoft Update listed for YOUR O/S. (Link may be old--lifted it from an earlier post.)

I know I'm new to the forum, but I've been using calibre for years, as well as fanficfare since its earliest versions. I've been very happy with all the it evolution especially with all the supported sites.

I do have a request. I'm not a programmer at all, but I know some changes are more difficult than others, so keep in mind it's just a request. I could be wrong, and this option is available, but I'm doing it wrong - if I am tell me I'm an idiot and please tell me how to fix the mistake.

... Anyway, onto the request! This is specific to the literotica plugin. At the bottom of each page of the story there is some information: Comments/Views/Favorites. Fanfiction.net (as well as others) has these (or simlar) options for putting into columns so, could we make these available?

Not really. Because of the way literotica 'multi-chapter' stories are treated, each 'chapter' has it's own comment, view and favorite counts.

Comments are cumulative though, (as well as views- which aren't nearly as important data wise, but still nice to have). Is cumulative addition that difficult?

Favorites would be more difficult, as it'd have to be averaged, like the ratings (or points/stars whatever it's called). Thinking about it, I know that's probably more difficult to implement correctly because 0 division at minimum.

Metadata is collected in as few web requests as possible because it's done in the foreground. Hitting even one page per 'chapter' is prohibitive.

And I frankly have no interest in doing it. That site is only supported because someone else wrote the code for it--it's a PITA to work with.

I'll agree with you on the PITA aspects. And on the lack of interest in adding something like this.

Then you have to explain why it's not collected when doing a metadata-only update. And what happens when doing an update that only downloads new chapters? The numbers on past chapters will have changed.

It was more an idle thought, but, in the case of a paged site like literotica, there might be metadata on the last page. Being able to collect that when the that paged is reached rather than up front might be useful.

True, and I don't connect them. Or if I do, it's because I haven't bothered turning them off.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but my FanFicFare plugin suddenly disappeared. Using latest Calibre 2.57.1, 64bit, Win 7. Not exactly sure when it disappeared but happened sometime after May 20 through today 31. Upon checking, FFF was no longer installed. Could I have hit a delete/uninstall command rather than update? Is that even possible from the update box?

Reporting this only as an FYI. It's not a problem as I just had to find and reinstall plugin. Been using it since 2013 and this just never happened before. I actually panicked a little when the FFF icon was missing. I use this plugin regularly and more than any other.

Gives me the chance to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to the developer. Such a time saver and so very easy to update my fics.

The most probable scenario I can think of is if you updated it, but some how received or saved a corrupted plugin zip file and didn't notice until later. We do occasionally see that happen with Calibre plugins.

I've just recently learned that there's a problem in the Swedish and French translations that can prevent FanFicFare from showing up, but reinstalling wouldn't help with that. Hopefully I'll be able to fix that after Kovid gets home from his vacation.
