change background color?
Calibre easily changes font colors, as claimed. But it does NOT change background colors consistently [a few .epub's work, most don't], on my 64bit W7 system anyway [and formerly, on 32bit too].
It changes the frame color instead. That's nice, but not what was promised.
Is there any way to change background color? I have vision problems so this is not a quibble.

Actually, the Viewer is an integrated Accessory to the Library Manager (book list) (and is also availabe from the command line.

But MerlinMama answered for the viewer. be sure to use the Preferences INSIDE the viewer, not the Main Calibre ones

You're probably viewing books which specify their own background colour, in that case. The only answer in such a case would be to edit the book and remove that.

I think you nailed it. Or half-nailed it anyway. I think another factor is bugs in epub's and mobi's. [I also notice that when trimming video clips attempts often fail, even if the format is accepted by the video editor app]. Quality control [plus GUI design and documentation!] is a distant aftethought in the computer world.

If anyone else has this problem i suggest they try CoolReader [one version back] and/or the Firefox ebook reader extension.

Unless somebody has a brilliant workaround, i declare this thread closed.
