CNN stated that, according to the Constitution, Obama was officially President at noon on 1/20/09, regardless of whether the oath was completed. It's just a ceremonial step, at any rate. I would'na lose any sleep over it.

I'd bet they went back and did it right later. Just to say they did. So they would'na lose any sleep over it.

Probably done right after the inauguration, most likely before Shrub actually left town, or before the luncheon and parade. Heck, it could've been done in the car along the parade route. But like I said, it was largely ceremonial, he was already Pres.

Maybe they'll do one of those movies... you know? Where everyone is sort of okay with things, then someone comes up and says, "Well, legally, you're not really the pres, because the oath was screwed up, but if you take it now, you'll be legal," and Michelle says, "Wait a minute, I saw you look at an intern once, I'm not sure I want to do that!" and Barack says, "I got more respect in Kenya!" and then we get a screw-ball comedy about everyone trying to decide whether they want to leave, or take the oath and do it all over again...

Nah.

Let me guess. Leslie Neilson would be in the movie? That is one I wouldn't even rent with a free no-new releases rental coupon.

Lucky us, no movie.

Now Neilson will just have to do Naked Gun 6-7/8: The Wrath of Shrub.

Nah.
Reported on this mornings news:

'Obama Retakes Oath' Repeats Oath of Office in White House after inauguration flub.'

I really hope your new President accomplishes what he has set out to do. His actions will not only affect the US, but countries around the world, including mine.

Sincerely, WDE

You and us, both! uh, All. Well, most of us, since I know there are those who want to see him fail just on general principle (). But hopefully we'll all pull together and pull it off.

ARRRGGGHHHH. I farking HATE Microsoft with a farking vengeance.

It's not that there's a 256 character limit on paths, although when the people you support like naming their folders with small essays it becomes annoying.

It's that you can create a path that exceeds 256 characters in the first place. Which means if you're lucky you can see the files still exist but not do anything with them, like open or rename them. And if your unlucky you can see the folder the files are in still exists, but you can't see into the folder.

It is possible to rename things (the higher level folders - but only once you've stopped everyone accessing their team's files, which tends to be an unpopular move; or the files themselves through some creative thinking, the command line and switches to show short file names.)

But why on earth does it let you create it in the first place? Argh!

You might be able to rename the "too long" file names by using wildcards (i.e. *) to indicate the excess of 255 characters. This is the only way in MSDOS or UNIX to rename something with a blank but in that case you use the single character wildcard (i.e. ?).

Now how to teach the "farking" customer to use appropriate names, I don't know.

I've managed to rename some of them using the short names (filena~1.ext etc), in DOS, using the shortname for the directories too(!), and I might be able to use wild cards to do a batch of them in one go.

My file management guide currently consists of "You do not need to write an essay as your folder or file name", but I think I ought to make it a bit more polite!
