Very good to know! I'll remember to try it next time I'm trying to remember where I put a book, whether or not it's ghosted. |

Did Amazon fix the SSL issues in this update? Just browse:
https://www.howsmyssl.com In 3.4.2 on my K3 and 5.6.5 on my KT2 the report is "Bad" due to insecure cipher suites being supported by the client. I am hoping since they fixed other security flaws they would get this one as well. I am waiting untile there is a way to back this out before upgrading myself, so I am unable to test this myself at this time. Dave |

Is that part of the "experimental browser" section, rather than the book downloading section? That part has never been promised as perfection.

As noted in my post, I can't confirm if this is fixed yet as I am not going to upgrade until it can be reversed in a worst case situation. Can you confirm the state of this for me? Dave PS: in fact I just tried with curl on my K3 and have attached the results. It seems that the SSL there is even worse than in the browser. See attached. Just installed 5.7.2.1 on my Voyage (upgrade from 5.6.5) and it's all behaving properly. The "All" and "Downloaded" options on the library page work as expected ("All" shows what's in the Cloud, "Downloaded" shows what's on my Kindle). All my content is sideloaded from Calibre, and I don't see the "Kindle Document" tag that others have reported (is that just with personal documents, perhaps?). I always use "List" view, but I switched to "Grid" view as an experiment, and all books are showing the correct covers.
Seems like a pain-free upgrade. One thing I've not seen mentioned before is that the "Reading Progress" options are now presented as a tab in the "Aa" dialog. That's an improvement, I think, rather than having them on the menu. The "Helvetica" font doesn't seem any lighter to me, as some have reported. It's the same weight as Caecilia, which is my preferred reading font. Last edited by HarryT; 02-21-2016 at 07:55 AM. |

THANK YOU. I've been looking everywhere (except for the correct place) to find where that setting moved to. I was about to reread the entire thread to find if anyone had already answered my question.

Any actual way to downgrade from this 5.7.2 back to 5.6.5?
What does the 5.7.2.1 does?... Anti-hacking stuff? |

My Voyage just picked up this update, and I'm ambivalent on the new homescreen.
I currently use a collection to manage my reading list, and actually liked the idea of the reading list on the homescreen. Unfortunately, it seems the only way to add items is to add them to the Want to Read shelf in Goodreads. But if they are actually in my library, the Kindle ignores them, even if they are on that shelf. Currently reading doesn't get shown either. Are other folks seeing this behavior, or have a way to use the reading list as an actual reading list? I suspect I'll have to go back to my old method with what I've seen so far. |

Goodness. I haven't connected my Paperwhite to wifi for some time and now I'm sorry I did. It downloaded the latest update. I can no longer see my reading list of my books on my home screen without having my reading glasses on. I could before this update. So when I want to start a new book, I have to search for my reading glasses as the font is too small for me to read.
I was shocked when it downloaded every book I've ever bought from Amazon but I figured out how to turn that off. That was my major complaint with the Kindle for desktop app. Why would they do that? Why? I rarely have to search within a book so I don't like the HUGE search box feature taking up all that space. Share that book? No thanks. Can't figure out how to turn that off. Or Goodreads unless I turn on the parental feature. |
