I'm finally tackling Waterloo: The History of Four Days, Three Armies, and Three Battles by Bernard Cornwall. Never did read the ebook I bought for the MobileRead Book Club, but the audiobook is flying by.

Who's the narrator, Tom? Maybe I can manage to finish it in audio format. (I did manage about 40%, but ran out of steam.)

The narrators do an excellent job. They are listed as Bruce Cornwell, Bernard Cornwell, and Dugald Bruce Lockhart.
The book has a lot of repetition, as if certain details were too juicy to be mentioned only once, or as if the author had forgotten that he had already told them. |

I'm listening to In The Darkness, That's Where I'll Know You: The Complete Black Room Story (In The Black Room) by Luke Smitherd. This was originally an episodic set of releases, now incorporated into the one recording.
The premise is intriguing - imagine waking up one day to find yourself in a small "room", looking out of someone else's eyes. You soon find you can also talk to them, you are the voice in their head. My issue with it is that the author has chosen (been forced?) to read it himself. It would definitely benefit from a professional reader. The author reads every character in the same way, with the same inflections and style of speech (I think part of that is the way the characters are written, which is a flaw in his style, IMHO). Also, very early on he mispronounces a word, a word that he has written, and it threw me right out of the story for a while. He pronounced "ethereal" as two words "etha reel". Goodness! I'm a fair way through it now, and the story is developing enough to keep me listening, but I feel the experience would have been far better with a professionally produced product. |

Bands of Mourning, the most recent Mistborn book by Brandon Sanderson, popped up in my library queue this week, and I'm really enjoying it around the halfway mark. A lot about the previous book, Shadows of Self, did not work for me at all, but this one has pulled me back into the series.

Finished Seedfolks last night. It was interesting but rather short. A YA novel. For the moment I'm in-between aBooks.

I just started John Steakley's "Armor" since I'd seen it recommended a lot in the MilSF threads. I'm just a couple hours in, but it's not grabbing me yet.
If any one wants try to motivate me to stay with it, go for it! I could use the encouragement. Oh, I also just listened to the abridged version of Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover" available from my library through Hoopla (as is Armor). It was entertaining and motivating. |

I've decided to focus on Wuthering Heights by Emile Brontë. Version 2 at Librivox is narrated by Ruth Golding, who does an excellent job. I'd go so far as to say her voice is perfect for the book.

Recently I've been alternating between Iron Druid(Kevin Hearne) novels and Lucas Davenport(John Sandford) two very different genres but both a lot of fun I've been enjoying them very much. But now its time to take a break from both authors as my pre-order for Justin Cronin's City of Mirrors has arrived and I'm very excited to start it hopefully it's on par with the first book in the series.
