Kindle Oasis - will you Read with Cover On or Cover Off?

Probably naked for me. It's funny though, when I need a cover is when I carry it. I try to read while carrying other things and I drop it. When I am not reading I don't really need a case. I know it'll be different with a battery in the case.

Also, when you're out, it seems like the protective function of the cover would be more useful: its principal non-charging purpose is screen protection but it seems likely that it would also protect from accidental spills, putting the thing down on a wet surface, etc etc, all things that happen more often when out than when anywhere at home bar the kitchen -- and if you're keeping your recipes on an Oasis you are richer or more foolhardy than me.

I will probably only take it with me to appointments and things like that. Also my purse isn't that large so I'm not sure it will fit in there with the regular cover on it - we will see. That's why I was planning on the pouch and just putting my phone (licence / cc) in it too and putting my keys in my pocket and leaving everything else at home.

I'll see how it works with my purse when I get it. It might be a dump everything else out of the purse to take it with me kind of thing.

Recipes are on my galaxy tab, phone, and my computer, but I still usually print them out because I don't like using my galaxy tab or my phone when I'm cooking either. The phone part makes for easy shopping though.

I would be astonished if it didn't fit with the regular cover, if it fit without it. The cover adds less than 5mm to the depth of the Kindle: the battery in the case turns it from an irregular shape with a thin bit to a regular one without a thin bit, that's all. So it's essentially the same size as a coverless Oasis: it's not like those great big plastic army-tank PW covers.

I actually had to change purses so it fits at all because my purse was too small. It was not wide enough. Anyway after switching it fits with the case

I'd thought of getting a pouch but, unlike any of my other ereader cases, taking the Oasis out of its case is actually faster than taking it out of a pouch would be and the case is smaller than a pouch would be if the pouch was protective at all. I don't even think the case weighs any more than a pouch would; it's a lot lighter than I expected.

I got it because its so light without the cover. I read without the cover pretty much all the time. A few times I left it in the cover in bed when I am about to fall asleep. The point of the Oasis for me was how light it is and the shape for easier holding and the real page buttons on a wider bezel. It has came through on all of these points for me.

Isn't that the entire point of the Oasis? They made it super easy to snap into the cover with the magnet, so it's no effort to take the cover on and off. Reading without the cover makes the device incredibly light.

+1. Ergonomics.

While my Voyage has a better screen, I often have to stop reading because of pain in my hands. With the cover off, the Oasis is so easy to hold I can read longer and with less pain than I can with my Voyage.
