I'm fortunate in that whilst my job may not be the most exciting around, I normally enjoy it, and most of the people I work with are cool, too.

And I thank my lucky stars I was never interested in City-level banking/finance/trading as a career option.

However, in an ideal world (which I fully accept this isn't), 5 days play for two days work and the same amount of pay would be grand.

True, and the really irrating thing who have jobs but don't get paid -- almost as irrating as those who still get paid without doing a job (good or otherwise).....

I heard of a case where a worker took one day off from work every week. His boss finally got fed up with it and asked him why he consistantly worked four days a week.

His answer, "Because I can't make enough in three."

On the other hadn, before I retired, I tried several times (unsuccessfully) to institute a program where once you turn 55 you get three day weekends every week but at the same pay. At 60 you'd go to four day weekends. At 65 - five day weekends, etc. until eventually you'd have seven day weekends every week and still get the same pay.

I couldn' get enough interest and now I already have seven day weekends every week.

We have flex time at work. I wanted to expand it to flex days. For example, 4 10hr days a week rather than 5 8hr days. My boss wouldn't go for it. Because they knew that most people worked 5 10 hour days already.

But, I do at least get to work two days at home a week. Saves on gas and travel time (which is about 45-50 mins a day).

PS: It's been a great inauguration day actually. I can't wait for people to say, Obama isn't "really" the president because he botched the oath.

I hate it when I click on a thread and my browser is instantly redirected to the portion of the page where there is an ad displayed by this one particular company. I can live with ads being displayed. But leave the control of what I look at on that page to me. This has been happening far too frequently the last couple of weeks. Death to datavis.com.

From what I read, Obama got the oath correct. The justice administering it got it wrong. Obama had read it enough to know the difference - so he kind of halted till the justice read it the right way!

Well, he actually waited for the CJ-SCOTUS to get it right, then fluffed it, too. damn! Does that mean that Biden is actually President?

Nope.. watch it again. The justice said it wrong. Obama paused. The justice realized what he said was wrong and repeated it correctly. Then Obama recited the incorrect phrasing.

No.. I am the President. The first person to say it correctly if it is flubbed becomes president. I said it right away.
