Wow! Digital List $22.50; Kindle Now $0.99. Very Highly Rated Cookbook for Families.

In case you'd like to know, it's now 96% lower than the digital list price!

The Family Cooks: 100+ Recipes to Get Your Family Craving Food That's Simple, Tasty, and Incredibly Good for You. By Laurie David, et al. Rated 4.5 stars, from 59 reviews at Amazon at the present moment. Print list price $27.99; digital list price $22.50; Kindle price now $0.99. Rodale, publisher. 288 pages. https://www.amazon.com/Family-Cooks-.../dp/B00FWT9IGQ.

Book Description
For families, eating right has become a monumental challenge. Cultural messages convince us that we no longer have time to cook, and food marketers spend billions persuading us that packaged, processed food is convenient, satisfying . . . and the key to happiness. Half of all our meals are now eaten outside the home. The result? Skyrocketing rates of heart disease and diabetes and unprecedented levels of childhood obesity. This crisis is movingly portrayed in author and activist Laurie David's new documentary (coexecutive produced with Katie Couric), Fed Up!

Luckily, we have a solution: Studies have clearly shown that eating home-cooked meals reduces obesity and develops lifelong healthy eating habits. There is an exciting movement afoot that involves a skillet, a few good knives, and some fresh ingredients: Home cooking is making a comeback.

In
The Family Cooks, David inspires parents and kids to take control of what they eat by making it themselves. With her longtime collaborator, Kirstin Uhrenholdt, David offers more than 100 recipes that are simple, fast, "low in the bad stuff and high in the good stuff," and designed to bring kids into the cooking process. The authors also demystify cooking terms and break down basic prep techniques, creating stress-free meals that foster health, togetherness, and happy palates. The Family Cooks is the ideal companion for unseasoned chefs of all stripes, whether they're parenting or being parented.

Three Steven Raichlen Barbeque Ebooks on Sale this Month for Only $2.99 Each!

One thing that I've learned since I started buying ebooks and, later, posting bargain ones on Mobileread, is that the name "Steven Raichlen" is practically synonymous with "barbeque" cookbooks. He's written a bunch of them and I've noticed that they all, or nearly all, are very highly rated.

Well, on Raichlen's website/blog, he mentions that three of his ebooks are only $2.99 during May. To be honest, two or maybe all three of these ebooks have been on sale before, and maybe at the $2.99 price point, I just don't remember. But if you haven't gotten all three, yet, you might wish to do it now. I noticed that I had already bought two of them; I went ahead and bought the third during this sale, myself.

Raichlen has just about all that you could possibly want to know about these books on sale, on this webpage of his. If you click on a link to one of the books, and then click on "Buy Now" on the webpage on the following webpage, he gives a gazillion different retailers from which you can order the ebook.

Since I have all three of the books now, I'll be glad to barbeque anything for you that you would like for me to. Except for you, murg; I won't barbeque anything that you bring to the house. eeee yew!

$1.99, Highly Rated Book about the Perfect Pizza, from an Award-Winning Author.

This is a book with recipes--there are 60 of them. But, it's more than that. It's a travelogue, and you might even call it a memoir of sorts. As the subtitle suggests, it is one man's search for the perfect pizza.

Regardless of what kind of book it is or what you call it, posting it is a no-brainer--what with the ebook having a 4.5 star rating at Amazon and it currently being marked down 87% from the digital list price.

My favorite kind of pizza? That would be Chicago-style. Or hand-tossed/traditional style with extra cheese and extra tomato sauce, if I can't get Chicago-style (which is almost always).

American Pie: My Search for the Perfect Pizza. By Peter Reinhart. Rated 4.5 stars, from 168 reviews at the present moment, at Amazon. Print list price $27.99; digital list price $14.99; Kindle price now $1.99. Ten Speed Press, publisher. 272 pages. https://www.amazon.com/American-Pie-.../dp/B0047DW4KA.

Book Description
On the subject of pizza, there is never a shortage of opinions. Allegiances run from the general (Chicago versus New York style, Neapolitan versus Roman) to the particular (Pepe's versus Sally's, Gino's East versus Pizzeria Uno), and new interpretations ever extend the pizza frontier. In AMERICAN PIE, master bread baker Peter Reinhart follows the trail from Italy to the States, capturing the stories behind the greatest artisanal pizzas of the Old World and the New. Beginning his journey in Genoa, Reinhart scours the countryside in search of the fabled focaccia col formaggio. He next heads to Rome to sample the famed seven-foot-long pizza al taglio, and then to Naples for the archetypal pizza napoletana. Back in America, the hunt resumes in the unlikely locale of Phoenix, Arizona, where Chris Bianco of Pizzeria Bianco has convinced many that his pie sets the new standard in the country. The pizza mecca of New Haven, grilled pizza in Providence, the deep-dish pies of Chicago, California-style pizza in San Francisco and Los Angeles—these are just a few of the tasty attractions on Reinhart's epic tour. Returning to the kitchen, Reinhart gives a master class on pizza-making techniques and provides more than 60 recipes for doughs, sauces and toppings, and the pizzas that bring them all together. His insatiable curiosity and gift for storytelling make AMERICAN PIE essential reading for those who aspire to make great pizza at home, as well as for anyone who enjoys the thrill of the hunt.
- A fascinating look into the great pizzas and pizzerias of Italy and America.
- Peter Reinhart's last book, THE BREAD BAKER'S APPRENTICE, was named Cookbook of the Year by both the James Beard Foundation and the International Association of Culinary Professionals . . . .

One Dish at a Time: Delicious Recipes and Stories from My Italian-American Childhood and Beyond. By Valerie Bertinelli. Rated 4.5 stars, from 84 reviews at the present moment, at Amazon. Print list price N/A; digital list price $21.99; Kindle price now $0.99. Rodale, publisher. 256 pages. https://www.amazon.com/One-Dish-Time.../dp/B0093QFEM6.

Book Description
More than 100 recipes for the Italian dishes of the much-beloved celeb's childhood, presented with tips and hints for enjoying them without overindulging.

As a member of a large, food-loving Italian family, Valerie Bertinelli has always equated food with good times and togetherness. But at one point her love of food threatened not only her health, but her livelihood as an actress, when personal demons drove her to overeat and make poor food choices that caused her weight to balloon by 50 pounds. Now happily svelte, remarried, and riding a new career high, Valerie has made peace with food, giving it a central-yet considered-place in her home and family celebrations.

One Dish at a Time offers an intimate look into the beloved actress's kitchen, where she prepares a collection of treasured recipes from her Italian heritage. Along the way, she shares her insights into the portion control and mindful indulgence she has come to practice on her journey to enjoying the pleasures of the table again.

Filled with gorgeous photos including the actress in her kitchen, nutrition information accompanying each recipe, and Valerie's tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle,
One Dish at a Time is designed to please baby boomer fans and home cooks alike.

You're on a first-name basis with her??? (Interestingly, a friend of mine is. He knew her when he was growing up in Long Beach and they actually went out a date. No word on whether or not she cooked dinner for him, though. ha).

AAMOF, I need to stop in a Dollar Tree in a few days. I'll look in their book area. I always do anyway, being a bookaholic as I am.
