I just got a 50% "we miss you" code and it works. However, the library now is a zoo! Columns overlap, menus to download overlap, has anyone complained? Anyway to switch back? I haven't been shopping with Kobo lately and now I am petrified! What a disaster This is the best I can do adjusting resolution/zoom

You can still get to the old library here...
https://www.kobobooks.com/library/library.html

You might want to post your screen shot in the Kobo Library thread as there is someone from Kobo monitoring it and AFAIK you're the first to have that exact complaint (the overlapping)...

As AnemicOak pointed out, there is a thread discussing the new library. Post the screenshot there. And include the browser and operating system you are using. The screenshot makes me think it is a browser compatibility issue.

I have to say that the Price Match Guarantee does work quite well. I've used it twice so far, and it has worked without a hitch. I've just tried it with a book to which I had applied a 20% discount code, so it will be interesting to see which price difference Kobo uses--the discounted version or the original.

My guess is the discounted. I know there was a glitch where you could get the discount + refund from the competitor's list price, but they fixed that one pretty quick (for Kobo!)
But, we shall see. I've never had an issue with them giving the refunds, I just need to up my swagbucks game to get some more giftcards to them to make it worth it.

For those who are interested Mark Lefebvre, Director of Kobo Writing Life, gave a talk at Book Expo America on common digital publishing pitfalls reported on by Chris Meadows at Teleread here:

http://www.teleread.com/kobos-mark-l...hing-pitfalls/

For what it is worth I found the following two quotes interesting:

Quote:
Lebebvre demonstrated an interesting feature of Kobo’s retail system, which has to do with a built-in currency converter that optimizes prices in the new currency rather than doing a direct conversion. For example, converting a US $5.99 price to Canadian dollars comes out to $7.70, which doesn’t look like a natural price. However, Kobo’s system will automatically round that up to $7.99 Canadian, which looks more like the sort of price we’ve been trained to expect to see on a web store. (UK pounds and Euros round to the nearest .49 or .99 price, given those currencies tend to have higher conversion values.)
Quote:
One interesting point Lefebvre made regarding price is that, since Kobo is global, it sells in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and elsewhere, in addition to the US. And customers in some of those regions—such as Australia and New Zealand—are used to paying more for e-books, so publishers can afford to price their e-books higher there.

What a twerp .... this is why we shop internationally for our ebooks etc!!

And, it's exactly the reason why the Government is in favour of Australians getting around geo-restrictions.

For what it is worth I found the following two quotes interesting:
Mark has been saying that about pricing for quite a while--I've seen him quoted on that in other articles. I disagree with him on that. When I put something on sale, if it isn't on sale in all regions, the regions where it isn't on sale simply don't do as well. When I do a promo with Kobo, we can choose pricing in all regions or some (and BTW, I have to set the .99 price--it is not automatic. Kobo asks us to do it and I always do, and maybe they are working on automating it, but it is not currently automated for me.)

Of course Mark L has a lot more data at his fingertips than I do and I can say that my boxed sets (which are a higher priced item than any single books) DO sell better on Kobo than any other venue (with or without discounts/promos). I don't know if this is price tolerance or promos that I can't see. For example if Kobo offers a storewide coupon, they are the sponsor of that so it doesn't come from my commissions. I, therefor, can't tell if the boxed sets are on "sale." If *I* offer the promotion (it comes out of my commissions and is done in conjunction with a coupon they are offering) I still sell boxed sets better on Kobo than any other venue--by a huge margin. For other books, if there is a price tolerance, it's very slight. ( I price all my books as close as possible on all venues. It doesn't always work out because Google tends to offer discounts or the exchange rate is handled differently, but that's the goal.)

They used the discounted cost of the Kobo book when calculating the refund. Got it back the next day, too. Not too shabby.

Well it wouldn't be a Kobo promo without something 'not quite right' about it .....

In the Scandanavian Crime sub genre the last 7 books (in a sort of lowest to highest price) are £4.99 ............. mmmmm .....
