Way too lazy to compare kernel configs, but I'm guessing the PW2 kernel is missing some key stuff compared to the PW3, which might explain the lack of functionality on a PW2...

A quick dmesg check on the two devices might be a good start, though, if you have shell access to your device.

(The rest of the FW itself *tends* (a notable exception being graphic assets tailored to the target screen resolution, for instance) to mostly be identical between devices on the same build, most of the device-specific stuff lies in the kernel).

I did try plugging in an OTG cable and a USB device with a power indicator LED to see what would happen. The Kindle did not power the bus. (I also verified this with a USB breakout box and a voltmeter.) The hardware and/or software of the PW2 is not operating in USB host mode.

Amazon has 12 models in their Kindle lineup. This is how I name them:

* K1 -- K2 -- KDX -- K3/KK -- K4/K4S -- K5/K4B -- PW1 -- PW2 -- PW3 -- K7 -- KV -- KO

My K7 is officially named - Kindle. Definitely not confusing

I think he manually dropped the voice folder in place, rather than using this install tool. The install tool is what doesn't recognize the Oasis.
