You can build your own Kindle audio adapter for less than the cost of Amazon's version. You can get the parts needed really cheap from eBay. The video also tells you how to get this to work on a Voyage. |

It is possible. If you cannot play music from the menu, you may need a hack (such as KUAL) to play music.

I had no problems installing the VoiceView TTS data fles from Amazon on my PW2 using the built-in update menu option. However, the site also states (emphasis mine): Quote:
Out of curiosity, I ran dmesg on the Kindle and got the follwing output: Code: [ 0.098672] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbfs [ 0.098802] usbcore: registered new interface driver hub [ 0.098964] usbcore: registered new device driver usb [ 0.167725] IMX usb wakeup probe [ 0.168447] IMX usb wakeup probe [ 0.277212] usbcore: registered new interface driver snd-usb-audio [ 10.068648] fsl-usb2-udc: bind to driver g_file_storage [ 807.320344] fsl_udc_suspend: is_otg:1, otgsc[ID]:1, usb_state:1 [ 1636.760722] fsl_udc_suspend: is_otg:1, otgsc[ID]:1, usb_state:1 [ 2103.551066] fsl_udc_suspend: is_otg:1, otgsc[ID]:1, usb_state:1

That might be reasonable - If the sound driver internally just copies the audio file to the sound device. Did (or does) a new device node show up in /dev when you plug in the audio device? If not, either it isn't suppose to or your firmware version is missing a u-dev rule (which would be something fairly easy to find). = = = = dmesg -c Before connecting the device - that will clear the ring buffer and anything in it afterwards is the result of your connecting the device. = = = = I ordered one of the Amazon dongles, just to learn about it. |

I am now losslessly compressing the pre-dithered videos to 1/4th the previous size (xz instead of gz). Last edited by geekmaster; 05-14-2016 at 04:23 PM.
