In fact, for an epub, nothing calibre specific in the metadata is needed or required. Just the same way that nothing Sigil specific in the metadata is required. Things like the MOBI-ASIN are for personal use only as they are not needed or required for an epub.
In fact, other than the main dc:identifier, the dc:title, and dc:language, nothing else is required by the epub spec. Of course, adding at least one author is strongly recommended! ![]() Everything else is there just for the user's info and can be deleted if you want. That said, if you use calibre to manage your ebook library and are not creating an epub for others to use, you can just as easily leave it there. It won't hurt anything. btw: none of the old meta style is allowed to be used in epub3, so none of the calibre: prefixed name/content pairs will be read or used by any epub3 software and may be deleted depending on the software/tool. No idea, my image was to demonstrate that the new Sigil MD Editor shows all the calibre generated elements.
I normally do the complete opposite of Embed Metadata with Modify (calibre plug in)->Remove non-dc metadata elements. And then if I'm inclined I use Sigil's MD Editor to remove the non-essential DC elements, identifiers (book shops), description, subjects etc. BR PS : I also rip the cover off with the Modify PI - another useless artefact. Metadata Editor Feature Request
Hi,
Can a feature be added, in a future Sigil release, that allows users to select and save metadata elements to a template/config file that can be called by the metadata editor with a single click? I use the same elements—in the same order—over and over again, and would like to save some data entry. Being a one finger typist is very time consuming. ![]() Thanks for your consideration. |

It would be easier to simply copy out the relevant pieces from the metadata section from one opf and then you can paste into the other inside the metadata tags.
That way you are starting with exactly what you want. You can even save it to your clipboard history and paste it into the opf like any other block of often used code. KevinH Last edited by KevinH; 05-09-2016 at 10:09 PM. |

Can you paste a "clip" into the opf?
edit: That wasn't worded very well... you can paste a clip into the opf. Go to tools/clip editor (ctr-alt-c) and create a "clip" of whatever template you want to add. Save. Close. Now when you have the opf open you can put the cursor where you wish to insert the template and then click on the button corresponding to your clip! Last edited by Turtle91; 05-11-2016 at 10:47 AM. |
