I wonder if there are any legal issues leading them toward only having TTS in conjunction with a mode for the sight impaired.

What I would like is not text to speech but speech to actions. I would like, at least for the kindle pc, to be able to control the program through verbal commands. Come on Alexa, you can do it. Windows Speech Recognition can do so to a limited extent. It can open Kindle for PC and once the book is open can turn the pages and close the program down, but I cannot find a way to select and open a particular book.

I wonder if compatibility with this device is the reason that the row of dots was replaced by percentage read in recent Kindle firmware. The percentage should work better with a screen reader.

I suppose it's conceivable that it's the reason. We'll never know. A question for those whp still have a K3: how did it read it out in its voice navigation mode? Did it simply ignore it when reading the library page? Last edited by HarryT; 05-11-2016 at 10:40 AM. |

What happens when the library drops OverDrive? They'll be stuck with a bunch of useless Kindles that they'll end up selling for pennies on the dollar, because Kindles only work at OverDrive libraries. So much for accessibility.

Both because of dropping Kindle support, and because of dropping the digital library platform with far more books that I actually want to read. Axis360 and 3M kinda suck. | |
