We tour around a lot and if we dont like the area or campsite we move on and yes we do have a solar panel and at times use bio fuel But as we cant buy it everywhere we use normal when we have run out of our own that we take
As for kids mine have left the nest sort off they keep comming back so we dont tell them where we are going as they keep turning up they even came across to France a few years ago with partners and tents one of our customers turned up as well so it ended up 11 of us the only trouble with that is Mum ends up cooking for the lot
cats and dogs stay at home when we go to France but they love comming away with us when we stay in UK one of the cats sulks if she cant come but we only take her to very quiet sites as busy ones have lots of strange dogs and I dont want to loose her

I think the cats could come with me/us. I'm not so sure about the cats AND the cockatiel.

Actually, the main obstacle is that the Muffin Man doesn't seem to see the appeal of this plan, and he does most of the cooking.

I can cook, and in fact, I enjoy cooking (on a grill or via other means). But I don't much enjoy cooking only for myself. So if the Muffin Man doesn't want to come along, what's the point?

People make too much work of holiday cooking. We always go by tent and we have a one pit cooker. Just throw everything in the biggest of the pans (use the other pan as holding container for when you want to cook the ingredients seperately) and you're done! You don't have a lot of washing up to do either (just the one or two pans and your plates/forks/spoons/cups)

This is a good plan, but I should make it clear that I'm not talking about a temporary holiday.

And my post was mostly pointed towards justlizz... I mean, common, a microwave on holiday!!!

And we often cook the same at home Bake some bacon, put it away, bake some rosti (or other potato material), put the bacon back in, add veggies and heat it all up again and you're done!

We bought a big pot in Hungary the last time we were there. Put it above a woodfire, add some meat (preferably beef), add potatos, onions, tomatos, paprika, and whatever you left-overs, let it simmer for a few hours and you'll have a great meal! (don't forget the water and to stir!)

Oh, well, if you're writing to justlizz, I don't need to point out that there would be no meat involved in my cooking, holiday or otherwise.

In both cases, the meat would be to add taste. Replace the bacon with cheese (only add it as last, not first ) and you can always remove the beef (I just like the taste of meat, and if you keep it cooking for a few hours, it will all fall apart and become one thick stew, the potatoes will help binding it)

I like beans or lentils in soup or stew, but they take long enough to cook that I'm not sure they'd be appropriate to a migratory lifestyle. I supposed the canned versions would be ok.
