I devoured all these books many many years ago and am glad to now be able to get them in ebook

It's been thirty years since I read the original Deryni series. I remember almost nothing of it now, but I'm not going to lay out a lot for it. The US price is now $6.15, as are most of the others...

Bishop's Heir is $1.99 as I type this.

Too late, it's $6.15 now.

Edited: I really should read the entire post before replying.

Kobo UK has Stardust by Neil Gaiman for just £0.99 this weekend!

And so does Amazon UK.

An excellent fantasy book.

A Doctor Who-related bargain, free at Amazon between Saturday and Monday.

Lethbridge-Stewart: Beast of Fang Rock - Andy Frankham-Allen

amazon.co.uk | amazon.com | amazon.ca

For those of you who don't know, Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart (later Brigadier) was a character who appeared off-and-on in the television series between 1968 and 1989, and in particular between 1970 and 1974, when he was head of the UK branch of UNIT, who dealt with various alien invasions.

The character itself isn't owned by the BBC, and in 2015 Candy Jar Books launched a series of novels featuring the character and also various others who appeared in television stories. All officially licensed by their creators.

Here's the official website for the book series: https://lethbridgestewartnovels.word...candyjarbooks/. If you have a look around you'll find that there are a few free short stories in PDF format to download.

Quote:
'There’s always death on the rock when the Beast’s about.’

Fang Rock has always had a bad reputation. Since 1955 the lighthouse has been out of commission, shut down because of fire that gutted the entire tower. But now, finally updated and fully renovated, the island and lighthouse is once again about to be brought back into service.

Students have gathered on Fang Rock to celebrate the opening of the ‘most haunted lighthouse of the British Isles’, but they get more than they bargained for when the ghosts of long-dead men return, accompanied by a falling star.

Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart is brought in to investigate what he believes to be signs of alien involvement. But it is not only Lethbridge-Stewart who has an interest in Fang Rock. Anne Travers is called to her family solicitor’s, who have in their possession a letter from Archibald Goff, the paranormal investigator who once visited Fang Rock back in the 1820s, and along with it a piece of alien technology.

What connects a shooting star, ghosts of men killed in 1902 and the beast that roamed Fang Rock in 1823? Lethbridge-Stewart and Anne Travers are about to discover the answer first hand...

With a foreword by Louise Jameson, who played Leela, the Doctor’s companion from 1976-1978.

The third book in the Lethbridge-Stewart novels series.

This is precisely part of my point. If I do not enjoy them, there is no point in buying them. And if I do enjoy them, I will not be able to read the sequel on my ereader, which is not a Kindle.

I know about free apps to read on other devices ... but I bought my ereader for a reason..

The contest may be fine, but what do I get? I posted the information so that people who stick to non-kindle formats do not get caught.

Very nice ...

Where is the info on how to make such queries with Amazon. Can I specify book topics (what keywords?). For example, can I ask for fantasy or SF, rather than a specific publisher?

I think someone worked it out by using Advanced Search/ Book Search and looking at the translation to a URL

Here's a title/ author example

https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?url=sear...title=complete

Three publishers

Coward's Paradise by Christopher Hodder-Williams

Science Fiction (originally published 1974, New English Library 1977)

`Suddenly I don't feel my brain belongs to me anymore. It's the property of the Institute.'

With increasing conviction and horror, writer Michael Adams realises the terrifying truth of this statement.
Struggling to cope with a failed relationship and a seemingly doomed career, he is admitted to the mental institute known locally as Coward's Paradise. Initially he is put under observation and is hopeful that he will recover from what appears to be an acute anxiety condition.
As treatment commences, Adams records his experiences in a startlingly revealing diary. As his mental state slowly deteriorates, the diary divulges how the symptoms of his illness are used against him as he becomes a pawn in the hands of the psychologists.
