Or a fly... I'll always lock my device when I'm putting it down, too often I found I wasn't on the page where I left off, because some fly had walked over the screen

What about adding little slots for compulsory sheets of razor thin paper, so you can still get a papercut? Once the paper has been used up, you are automatically billed and Amazon sends you refills. The Kindle Ripper (working title) would cease to function until you put the refill in.

For what's it's worth ...

Went to Best Buy to see if they had any Kindle Oasis-s on display. Nope. So checked the reviews on Best Buy's site. A few points in the review caught my eye. (The first excerpt was from a fairly long, very positive review.)

The screen is the first front-lit Kindle I've ever seen where you simply cannot see any trace of the LEDs from any angle. No dark spots, no bright spots...just a completely uniform illumination from edge to edge in both directions. The "page" also appears to be nearly flush with the top glass surface, helping achieve the illusion of printed paper. It's sharp and clear, better than any Kindle I've used.

(But, apparently -- according to the review -- he/she hasn't used a Voyage.)

A generally positive review follows -- but, apparently (for this user) the touchscreen lags.

I got oasis yesterday, very lighweight compared to voyager, screen size comparable, like having actual page turn button, touchscreen seems kinda slow, the on/off button on top is improvement from back of voyager. cover does seem kind of flimsy, but supposed to be leather so will see how it holds up. finding it easier to hold with cover on, then removed. cover doesn't have separate charge port, so all charging is done thru kindle.

And the reviewer specifically says ...

Aren't the screens for the Voyage and Oasis the same? If so, I certainly hope they'd be comparable.

The initial press photos showed blue tinted text (not the screen itself, mind) on the Oasis in comparison to the Voyage. Since then people have posted pictures of their Oases (Oasises?) which seem do not have bluish text. I assume Amazon used a different batch for their publicity drive?

Well, purely in terms of the specs, the screen of the Paperwhite 3 and that of the Voyage are also the same, but in reality, the Voyage is much clearer with much better contrast.
