Well, the flip side is that the CPU is doing work when you dock the cover, every time you dock the cover. It wakes it up if it was sleeping to do it as well. So I wonder how much of a cost that actually is.

My loaner unit arrived.

I can't believe anyone thinks this is the best ereader ever. It really isn't.

I would rate the following as contenders for the title of "best ereader ever":

Kobo Aura H2O
Pocketbook Inkpad
Kindle Voyage

All three are uniquely wonderful in their own way. But the Oasis? It feels like a cut-down Paperwhite.

Becasue this ereader is physically less than the Voyage or paperwhite. That gives the impression it is the Lite model, not the premium model.

My current reading device is a ten inch tablet which is damned thin but still weighs more than the Voyage.

The reading device I really wish I had is the Pocketbook Inkpad (8" screen, one-handed, 350 grams).

Barring medical issues, I see the problem of a "too heavy" ereader as being a first world problem.
