Next up: The 4.50 from Paddington by Agatha Christie. An excellent Miss Marple mystery. Most enjoyable so far. |

I keep trying to read Greg Bear, and keep not liking his books. You'd think I'd learn?
Currently reading She Came Back (APA: The Traveller Returns). Number eight in the delightfully cozy Miss Silver series by Patricia Wentworth. And all available in the public domain in Life+50 countries such as Canada. I'm quite enjoying it. |

This morning I finished listening to Indian Givers by Jack Weatherford. I actually started it back in November, but set it aside for a couple of other high-interest audio books. Finally resumed it at the beginning of this month. Non-fiction and thus not my usual read/listen, but still very enjoyable.

Thanks, Dazrin. If life ever gives me a paucity of books in my TBR, perhaps. But I suspect that's not going to happen. OTOH, if it ends up being a MR Book Club selection, perhaps.

Murder at the Breakers, by Alyssa Maxwell. Historical cozy mystery - well done, I thought. Not sure what's up next. Probably Burned by Benedict Jacka.

Currently reading Voidfarer by Sean McMullen.
Very humorous writer, in a serious sort of way. Rather like Terry Pratchett in more ways than one. |

I had to do some shuffling around on my reader, and ended up starting Limbus, Inc. Book II tonight. Limbus is an odd company - whether it's based on superscience or horror depends on the author - that specializes in matching desperate people with unique jobs, and the company is the common factor in all of the stories. Each anthology has a framing sequence about someone encountering and reacting to the tales, as if we're reading over his shoulder and getting his reactions in between episodes, and that reader isn't sure whether what he's reading is fiction or nonfiction. (Imagine reading a novelization of Creepshow from the perspective of the kid - it's like that.)
The first story in this volume is about an alcoholic veteran who gets recruited to go back in time to save specific women, and the payment he requests is to be able to forget his own tragic loss. The next story is by Joe R. Lansdale, but I'm leaving that for tomorrow... |

Just finished "Borrower of the Night", by Elizabeth Peters. This is the first book in her "Vicky Bliss" series, about a historian who investigates mysteries. The "Amelia Peabody" series by the same author are among my favourites, so I was looking forward to reading this series, and I wasn't disappointed. Excellent writing with an enjoyable touch of humour. Looking forward to reading the remaining books in the series. Highly recommended!
The plot: Vicki and her arrogant male colleague, Tony, get drawn into a search to locate a lost masterpiece by a 16th century sculptor which they believe may be hidden in a (fictitious) castle in the (real) German town of Rothenburg. Numerous adventures ensue! |

Finished Enter the Janitor by Josh Vogt ; good read, weird take on the good vs. evil thing, and kept me guessing most of the time. I have the sequel queued up, but as has been my habit lately, I will read something different in between.
Right now, I have My Point...And I Do Have One by Ellen DeGeneres on my reader. |
